Dynasty Leagues (1 Viewer)

Being new to Dynasty Leagues I have some strategy questions for those of you who are experienced in them.

This is the first year of this league and it is a PPR league with standard scoring, start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE. 1Flex (RB, WR or TE), 1K & 1DEF. Roster size is 25.

So one question is what position is really more valuable in a PPR Dynasty league?

Next, I feel I have a good mix of players by position and veterans vs rookies, IMO. If you look at my roster in my signature you will see that. But I feel that I am a little weak at the RB2 position for this year but not bad for future. I feel I have real strong younger WR that will eventually become very solid if not elite WR in some cases. But with that said it brings up my other question do you try to upgrade your RB2 position if it means having to give up one of your up and coming WR’s? Or if you feel that maybe you’re a year or 2 away from having that solid RB would you hold off?

Having never played in a dynasty league before, I am the last person who should comment on this.

But I would guess that stud WR's are pretty valuable, because

a) the starting lineup requirements,

b) the PPR, and

c) WR's typically have longer careers than RB's.

Every couple of years you can turn over RB's, but a guy like Terrell Owens has been a stud for over a decade.

In a ppr dynasty, I would build my team around stud WRs like Wayne and Fitzgerald. WRs have a much longer lifespan than a RB (except for a few exceptions). For example, think of the team who built around SJax 2 years ago. They're likely screwed.

Thanks guys! I was thinking that way but wasn't real sure. But it makes a lot of sense to build with your WR. I guess what drove this was the fact I was looking at maybe trading a young WR for a RB someone like Portis or Jacobs but I think I will stand pat.

Thanks again!

With your team I would look at that if you think you can make a push to the championship. Having a young team is nice but especially in a $$ league if you have a chance to make a run then take it. IMO either trade LT and Jones to get younger or go get a Jacobs player and win this season. Things change too fast to build a team for 4 years from now. I'm in the middle of a rebuild on one of my teams and values are more volitile for prospects. I have traded for Meachem and Chad Jackson in the offseason and almost did for L. Robinson and all of them are lost value at the moment.

Hands down you focus on trying to get RB's that can be 3 down players. With PPR, the RB who can be a rushing and receiving threat makes THE difference. Right now with T.Jones as your #2, your pretty good. Also, not sure how your draft works or how many rounds you do, but mine is 4 rounds, so the 3rd round is usually a dud round. Try trading that with a decent player (maybe WR/RB) for 4th and upgraded player.

Agreed add a top 10 qb and then take what you can get at rb and watch the waiver wire for rb.s that emarge during the season. Your good to go at wr. and qb for 10 years or so.

Actually this is our first year and we haven't really discussed how we will do our rookie drafts yet. 10 team league. We drafted 25 players to start with. That is a good point about using next year's picks. I need to get with our league to get our drafting set up for next year. Thanks again

Fantasy Football is about Stud RBs... you need to have at least one Stud RB, and toss in 2 or 3 so so RBs.

In PPR, WRs and TEs have a lot more Weight than they do in regular Leagues.... so I would say w/ a 12 teamer, You a solid WR1 & 2.

In PPR, I rather Have 1 Stud RB w/ 2 Stud WRs followed by a couple of decent RBs to get me by

In non-PPR, I much rather have 2 stud RBs w/ a couple of decent WRs... nothing special, just 2 or 3 guys that can get me by.

In PPR, WRs are a lot more constant scoring than they are in non-PPR

Most importantly, Dynasty is about depth of your roster... and a healthy Mix of Fresh rookies and solid vets work the best.

Also, w/ Dynasties... QBs have a lot more value, maybe not in a 12 teamer since I really play in 14 & 16 teamers... but QBs value are a little Higher in dynasties than in redrafts.

Roster: QB - McNabb, Brees, Edwards, Flaco; RB - LT, T Jones, J Stewart, Pierre Thomas, L Booker, J Parmele; WR - Fitz, Cotchery, E Royal, A Gonzalez, J Morgan, R Meachem, A Bryant; TE - Winslow, LJ Smith, Scheffler, McMichael; K - Kaeding, Vinatieri; DEF - Chargers, Bears. Your team looks good, try to move McNabb soon... & LT. Both RBs are getting up there.
