These are consensus dynasty rankings for year 2007 1pt./tackle .5pt assist 3pt./sack or interception 2pt. forced fumble/fumble recovery 1pt./pass defensed.

If you vote other, please specify.

Also, please comment on your vote, and list any player that should be nominated for the next round. By doing this we can get some good information about players being considered here and why. If everyone contributes then each poll position can be similar to a player spotlight. That is idealy what I would like to see. I definitly need feedback on what players you think should be on these polls that may not be. I do not have as much knowledge of IDPs as I do offensive players so all of the good players on defense are not neccessarily in my forward memory banks so to speak. So I need some help from the rest of your there.

1. Keith Bulluck 4/4/1977

2. Demeco Ryans 7/28/1984

3. Brian Urlacher 5/25/1978

4. AJ Hawk 1/6/1984

5. Will Witherspoon 8/19/1980

6. Jonathan Vilma 4/16/1982

7. Lofa Tatupu 11/15/1982

8. Shawne Merriman 5/25/1984

9. Lance Briggs 11/12/1980

10. Kirk Morrison 2/19/1982

11. Ernie Sims 12/23/1984

Keeping in mind this is DYNASTY... Ernie Sims.

But I have to ask... where the hell is CATO JUNE?

He is younger then about half of that list and a top performer in a great spot.

I do like some better then Sims short term, slightly, but this is long term.

 agreed on all counts. June has to be on the list soon.

I'll be surprised if C. June is starting next year.
It was Brackett who was going to be benched this year. Just a couple weeks ago.Never was it June. Never has it been June. He is their best coverage man on the entire defense.Someone just voted Brackett? :hot: Was that you?

June will be on the next poll. I think the reason he isn't on this one is because players who get zero votes are sometimes dropped from a poll until someone brings them up again. I don't recall if June has been one of the choices yet so far or not though.

June is a UFA I believe and I am not sure if he will be a Colt next season. I am also not sure how he would fit into another defense. I have heard many complain about his tackling skills. He is a converted safety. He does make some big plays and has been a very good IDP in that situation however. I am not entirely sure if his situation will not change moving forward however and how that might affect him if it does.

Brackett was not ever going to be benched. That was a mistaken assumption made by someone on the blogger.

The writer at Indystar must have made the mistake.

If the linebackers can't tackle, try someone else.

The Colts did that when Rocky Boiman took over on the strong side during the second quarter at Jacksonville. Boiman finished with seven tackles, starter Gilbert Gardner with two.

Either Boiman or Rob Morris or both could play this week; coach Tony Dungy said he's looking at his options. Morris made 23 total tackles against Buffalo and Dallas when starting middle linebacker Gary Brackett was injured. The Bills ran for 111 yards, the Cowboys for 117, two of the Colts' best days.

I voted for Brackett, he had a contract extension this year and he's the D captain playing for a team everybody wants to try and control the clock against :goodposting:

He is indeed the captain. I actually like what Brackett has done thus far. But when there is talk of him finding himself benched as Dungy is looking at his options... And Im trying to select a center piece type of player for a Dynasty defense. :goodposting:

I view him as a low end #1 or a fantastic #2, don't see that changing anytime soon

I'd still rather have Antonio Pierce in a dynasty than any of the options left, and quite a few that have already made the vote.

See the Brackett will be benched thread for more discussion of this.I don't think Brackett has been the Colts problem except when he was injured. Morris was benched for Brackett before because Morris is too slow to make plays outside the tackles unlike Brackett.

That being said Morris is bigger and stronger than Brackett is so Morris is better able to play off blockers.

I think this situation and these players are good examples of 4-3 MLBs being used based off of scheme and how they are dependent on the quality of play by the DTs in front of them.

Morris is a slower but stronger player than Brackett who can better overcome playing off blocks. IIRC he has played ILB when the Colts used a 3-4 defense many years ago as well. Morris however makes too many tackles downfield and is not fast enough to pursue outside runs. He also is a liability in pass coverage especialy in Dungy's 4-3 cover 2 scheme. He has to sit on 3rd downs.

Brackett is a faster more versitile player although not as strong. When unblocked he can make plays sideline to sideline and because of his quickness stop Rbs for short gains. He also is good in coverage so a much better fit for Dungys 4-3 cover 2 scheme. The Colts lost Tripplet in FA last year and also have not had Corey Simon all year because of injury. The Colts traded for Booger to play DT for them but he hasn't made much of an impact. Not having decent DT play hurts Brackett as a MLB because of his size and because blockers can disrupt his pursuit.
