What is Mike Bell's dynasty value?

The high-side appears to be that he takes advantage of Tatum's bad toes, takes over the starting job this season, looks great, and holds it for the next few years (he is the "Denver RB").

The down-side appears to be that he struggles with the opportunity given to him and Cobbs moves ahead of him in the role as split-committee RB with Tatum.

The risks that I see for him to have great value:

(1) He has to earn the starting job from Tatum.

(2) He has to earn Mike Anderson-level carries, not a lower-level of carries.

(3) He has to hope that Shanahan doesn't sign another Ron Dayne or draft the "next Mike Bell" to keep his job next season.

Seems like he is a very risk dynasty keeper. I'd love to ask who you would trade him for in a dynasty league, but I'll bit my tongut.

SSOG: would love to hear your thoughts since I respect your opinion on the Denver RB situation. From all your other posts, it is hard to tell what your thoughts are on him as dynasty keeper.

He's not the man this year and has very little chance to be the man next year. I think Tatum also has maybe a 50-50 shot of being the man next year. For dynasty purposes until Shanny grabs an early RB in the draft or makes a decent FA signee I wouldn't plan on more than 1 year out for the Denver backfield.

Ask Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Clinton Portis*, and Tatum Bell.

Denver RB Dynasty value=Stay away.

Different rb almost every year in denver, not good for dynasty leagues. Niether bell will be running full time in denver next year imo...

He's got value. Any starting RB in the NFL has value, and he's cheap.

Even part of the DEN Rb stable is useful as a bye week player, as they can produce.

Also, he's on a free agent deal, so he's got a different sort of contract situation than most rookie RB candidates.

If you listen to what some of the folks above are saying, you need to avoid the DEN situation in dynasty. However, both Cobbs & Mike Bell were likely available late in the draft or off the wire. for a cheap flyer, DEN is a good place to look for a RB, due to the turnover. The RB may not a long shelf life, but realize that the starting RB's have been:

Davis, Portis, Droughns - definitely have had mid-long term value.

Gary, Griffin - no value past the (or part of the) one year.

Anderson - value over multiple years, but not consecutive.

Tatum has had value over the short-term, and probably will have some long-term value.

Mike Bell & Dayne - who knows yet? Dayne looks pretty much done, though.

I'd take a shot on him if he's cheap, and I wouldn't avoid them in the future.
