Dynasty or Contract League Rules (1 Viewer)

I am starting a new league this year and would like to make it either a contract league (no salaries, but contracts established immediately following the draft.) or a full blown dynasty league with salaries, contracts, the whole 9 yards.

I have found many posts for many different ideas, but I have yet to see any COMPLETE sets of rules.

Any posts or links would be appreciated.

I already run a redraft league and another dynasty league with rules we made up ourselves. The league runs well, but I am looking for new, PROVEN, league ideas.

The main goal is to have some carry over of players and to be able to establish a rookie draft in future years.

Thanks

One more note, I am not concerned with scoring. We have a well established scoring system for all of my leagues.

It is the year to year rules I am looking for, whether simple or complicated.

I have a complete set of rules for a dynasty contract league that's going into it's 5th year. I can't post them because they're in a word document. If you send me a PM with your email address I will send them to you.

A "true" dynasty league is one where the entire roster is carried over year to year. The draft consists of rookies and undrafted vets from the previous year (in our case Colston and Romo top that list). Also, we have a free agent pool (which are players cut after the draft) and owners can choose from only those players for that year. It eliminates the waiver wire madness in Yahoo since they can't pick up just any player that is hot that week and keeps good undrafted players available for the next year's draft (i.e. Colston and Romo) in addition to the rookies. Owners also pay more attention to their draft picks since that will be their team, for the most part, for the year.

We're going into our second year but I borrowed a lot from my other dynasty league which is now 7 years strong.

Here ya go:

Red Eye Fantasy Football League

2007 Rules

I've given this to several people here over the years. GregR founded a league a couple of years ago partially based on our rules and setup. We've been running under this setup for almost 15 years now.

It has its ups and downs, but if you want the feeling of being an owner/GM/coach with as much of the bells and whistles as possible, this is a good start for you to consider how to incorporate salaries, contracts, raises, option years, franchise and transition tags, handling the free agency period for those tagged players, matching bids, auction and rookie draft, establishing salaries of rookies, using a developmental squad, etc.

We've tried just about everything over the years, some sticks.. some doesn't. Any questions, just holler. I'll answer them the best I can.

Good luck.

I've got a set of rules for a contract-keeper (full-blown salaries, yearly free agent auction, yearly rookie draft, franchise tags, transition tags, etc.). Has worked for six years.

PM me with your email and I'll send it to you. Actually, don't know if there's room, but I would love to play in the new league.

Thanks for all of the information. Any more would be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for an option to start a league with only contracts, no salaries. In looking at everyone's rules, the financial end of things looks like it can get pretty complicated. I think some of the owners in my league would shy away from a league this in depth.

Does anyone play in a league with only contracts? We have done a keeper league in the past, but we never liked the idea that you could decide at the end of the season who to keep and who to drop. I'm looking for rules where decisions about long term contracts must be made BEFORE the season starts. That way you have to live with bad moves and can be rewarded for taking chances. This would still allow for a rookie draft and some year to year carry over. I realize this is not a dynasty league, but we don't want a keeper league either.

Thanks again and keep the ideas coming.

scroll down to the "additional league rules setup" section to get the full rules. in pdf form it's about 5 pages, so fairly extensive.

this is a start-up dynasty auction league, but the rules have been used prior in another league one of our commishes is in, with some amendments.
These rules look similar to the ones we are considering adopting for our start-up dynasty league. Any idea how these rules have worked in the past? I am particularly interested in salaries and contract years and how people have been able to manage the salary cap.
