Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
As a continuation of the work OZ (and Tick) did in his positional dynasty polls, I am going to run a series of polls on overall player rankings in a dynasty league. This will allow us to see both how people's values of the players have changed in the last couple of months and how people value the players relative to each other across positions. I am going to attempt to get as many of these done before the NFL Draft as possible because player values will fluctuate wildly at that point, and I may just let OZ take over with a new series of position polls at that point. (I am also doing this before the Draft because some of us have fantasy drafts starting that day.) In order to make this most applicable to everyone, let's assume a standard lineup and scoring rules.

Standard fbg scoring rules:

1 pt per 10 yards rushing/receiving

6 pts per rushing/receiving TD

1 pt per 20 yards passing

4 pts per passing TD

-1 per INT

3 pts per FG

1 pt per XP

Lineup:

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

1 RB/WR/TE flex

1 K

1 D

I started this poll by including the top ten players in the staff rankings plus the consensus top rookie. I don't expect these polls to mirror the staff rankings, and there should be some interesting discussion as a result, but I will add the next players to the poll from the staff rankings if necessary. I would prefer to add players only after they have gotten a couple of other votes in the previous poll. Some of these players probably won't get any votes for now, but I'm not going to temporarily remove them as OZ did because I don't think the clutter among the poll choices will be an issue for now. Anyway, on to the rankings.

1. RB LaDainian Tomlinson, SD

2. RB Larry Johnson, KC

3. RB Shaun Alexander, SEA

4. RB Clinton Portis, WAS

5. RB Steven Jackson, STL

6. RB Ronnie Brown, MIA

7. (Runoff) RB Cadillac Williams, TB

8. RB Reggie Bush, NCAA

9. (Runoff) RB Lamont Jordan, OAK

10. RB Willis McGahee, BUF

11. QB Peyton Manning, IND

12. (Runoff) RB DeAngelo Williams, NCAA

13. WR Larry Fitzgerald, ARI

14. RB Edgerrin James, ARI

15. WR Chad Johnson, CIN

16. RB Rudi Johnson, CIN

17. WR Steve Smith, CAR

18. (Runoff) RB Tiki Barber, NYG

19. (Runoff) RB Kevin Jones, DET

20. TE Antonio Gates, SD

21. WR Torry Holt, STL

22. (Tie) RB Deuce McAllister, NO

(Runoff) WR Randy Moss, OAK

24. (Tie) WR Anquan Boldin, ARI

(Runoff) QB Carson Palmer, CIN

(Runoff) RB Brian Westbrook, PHI

27. WR Terrell Owens, DAL

28. RB Cedric Benson, CHI

Who is the #29 player to have in a dynasty league? If you vote other please list the player. If you think someone else should be added next round let me know. I added Jackson since he got a vote last round.

Also feel free to vote in the runoffs that are still listed as ties above, as they are only ties until someone gets enough votes to separate himself.

Snorlax, I totally think it is cool what you are doing. I love reviewing dynasty rankings. I love seeing the masses opinions on this stuff. But I feel a need to point how that this is not remotely close to the best way to do it.

For instance, in the voting for the 28th overall spot - 17 people voted for Benson, 14 for Jamal, and 14 for Wayne, and another 55 votes among all the other guys.

Now just b/c Benson had the most - doesn't mean he had a majority. Not even close. Because if you then did a poll taking just the 3 guys who got the most votes - Benson, Lewis, and Wayne - the outcome could be very different as to who emerges as the top vote getter. Assuming the same 17 people vote for Benson again, likewise on the 14 that voted for Lewis, and the 14 for Wayne - you still have another 55 votes. Of those who voted for others - what if 80% of them voted for Wayne. That could easily happen. What if the remaining voters were pretty split on which rb they liked better - so half the guys voting on a rb went with Benson, while half went with Lewis. But all the guys that felt a wr should be in the next spot went Wayne?! Then Wayne would have the most.

Anyway, you probably realize this already - but the better way would take way too long.

Didn't mean this as a put down. Again, I think something is better than nothing. So I enjoy reading em anyway for all the opinions written into each thread.

Chester Taylor is going to be a surprise to many this yr...

Minnys new coach you know the former OC for the eagles ...well he always wanted to run the ball more in philly and he will run the ball more in Minny...

wait you are worried about RBBC? New Coach...New Coach Trades for RB...New Coach RUNS HIS GUY...and you should also expect Taylor to be used in the passing game too...

Taylor is 26 and 5 yrs in the league EXACTLY what JORDAN was last yr...and Jordan is ranked at #9 here...i think you will see taylor as the #12-15 RB at worst and an upside of cracking the top 10....that is far more valueable then any WR or QB at this point

You're exactly right; that would take too long. If I had forever or if the polls could very quickly get enough votes, I could have instant runoffs galore. However, I don't have forever, and I'm in fact trying to get as much of this done as I can before the NFL Draft starts. Case in point, I'll leave this up for a little bit, but if things still stand as they are I will give out two spots here.

Just like Jordan was a risk last year, Chester is a risk this year. The difference is that Chester has a lot more competition and a higher risk of RBBC and vultured TD's.

I notice when you add more players at a position the votes spread out amoung that position. As the number of players at one positions decreases, the more concentrated the votes. No real solution. Polling like this is going to have its issues.

:goodposting:

I voted for Droughns. He carried the ball 309 times last year (10th in the NFL) and doesn't appear to have any competition for his job. The OL is upgraded and Kellen Winslow is back which should help keep that extra LB off the line. He didn't score very many touchdowns last year but I think that he will get that into the 8-10 range this year. Basically, he was solid last year and only seems to have pieces that will help him improve this year. I have him ranked as my #13 back so far this year.

I'll give this a little time; I hope we can get some separation here. If not, I'll put up a runoff with the next poll.

u might have him at 13 this year, but this is a dynasty bro

Is Julius Jones going to be the pick here without even being the best long term RB on his own team?? Preposterous.
Who knows who will be better 5 years from now, but I don't think the answer is clear.I voted Chester here. Really like the situation he's been put in and the line should be quite nice.

I can't see myself taking guys like Gonzalez, Heap, Shockey this early. I'm kinda surprised Gonzalez is on this poll at all with no PPR. Given in this format you can start up to 4 WR's I believe, I'm taking chances on guys like Andre Johnson, Roy Williams with their best years ahead of them.

other then the fact that the Minn RB situation has been RBBC since robert smith retired what makes you think that Taylor is a risk for RBBC?Minn got a NEW COACH

that NEW COACH got a NEW RB(Chester Taylor)

Whiz is gone

Moore is fragile and part of the old regime

Fason is also part of the old regime

Mo may or may not retire but he isnt what he used to be

That NEW COACH went on record saying he can see Taylor as a 20-30 carry back

Taylor is a good pass catcher just like Jordan was last yr...

Taylor wont have to come out on 3rd down...yeah he will get spelled every now and then by moore/fason...

that NEW COACH also landed one of the best run blockers in the league...

that NEW COACH also felt they didnt run the ball enough in philly

that NEW COACH also knows how to use his RB in the passing game

IMO people are lost in the RBBC thing due to Minnys past but fail to realize that they have a new Regime and that new Regime has their GUY...I would say that the RISK of RBBC is much lower then what most say

 Chestor Taylor supporters just came out in droves.
One supporter just decided to screw the system. Not that the system didnt have enough issues as it was.
?? do you mean me for stating my opinions about chester?
No, I think he means one voter with multiple aliases just voted about 10 times.
?? do you mean me for stating my opinions about chester?
No, its called multiple user names. An opinion didnt cause that. Who do you think you are?
i see...but i dont know what would make you think some with multiple user names would do that...but i guess anything is possible...as for who do i think i am? just another guy with an opinion i just happened to spell that opinion out just prior to your statement so i thought it was fair to ask the question

wowsa, looks like chester is going to take it

I totally agree with all the posts about Chester, he's got all the tools to succeed. I really think he's in for a Lamont Jordan type year

If this is in fact alias-influenced, it's very upsetting and stupid. The point isn't to have your guy win; he's not running for office or anything. I think I'll just do a 3-way runoff and we'll see how it turns out. If you did vote with aliai here, please don't do it again as we're trying to get a real consensus opinion.

Chester's votes jumped from about 8 to 23 over a span of minutes not hours. Cant wait to see who this guy votes for in the next poll.

time to start this over for the impact of the draft?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
 its funny how much really changes after the draft.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Aside from Deuce, what has really changed?Dom should be on this poll now, but what else?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
off the top of my head:1. Reggie Bush will be lower than 8th.

2. Domanick Davis will show up somewhere on there.

3. Deuce will drop.

4. Deangelo Williams competing with Foster should put him below 12.

5. McGahee dropping given the Bills didn't get any OL help...
