CLOSED - Big Ben

Voted Carson here. He's been the #1 QB before. He's still young. Still has Chad and I don't think we'll see a big dropoff from Housh to Coles.

Assuming he comes back healthy, he has more upside and is more proven than anyone else on this list.

Went Schaub here.

I think the next 4 in any order should be palmer, mcnabb, schaub, and cassel

mcnabb is young enough to satisfy a 2-3 year dynasty window and now looks likely to add boldin

palmer has top 5 upside

schaub could be the next big thing

cassel should be a borderline qb1 if not more on a team with a bad defense and budding offense

after those 4 I'd look at big ben but not now

This is a tough call. I went with Ben because he's the only one where I know what he'll be 2-3 years from now.

I considered McNabb, Palmer and Schaub, but they all seem to have more question marks than Ben.

My best guess of where he'll be in 2-3 years is exactly where's he's been most seasons: right around QB15-18. You know who else will be right around QB15-18 in 2-3 years? A few guys you can pick up off the waiver wire 2-3 years from now.

 By his logic I would say Eli should be the pick. He averages around 24 TDs a year to Ben's 18, and has just as much job security.

:DPalmer, Schaub, Cassell, and Manning are all above Roth for me right now. In fact, I'd probably take Warner ahead of Roth. In dynasty, you can get top 10 production from Warner for the next two years then pick up some random guy in three years to get you QB15 production.

I had not seen that. I heard fans discussing it, but I havent seen anything to suggest it is "likely". Whats the scoop?

While I'm a Ben supporter, in all honesty I could probably take Schaub over him right now. Maybe Palmer. I can't take Cassel over him though, he did well last year but he also had Moss and Welker, and although Gonzo/Bowe are good, they're not as good and the OL is worse. One year of production with a big time change = too much risk and IMO not enough reward.

At QB9, I'm probably going to go QBBC and a QBBC of Schaub and either Eli, Flacco or Warner would be good. If I'm just going to draft one QB it would be Ben.

I went with Palmer here, on the premise he's younger than McNabb and likely to be on a team where he needs to throw the ball a ton year in, year out.

Count me in with the "don't get why Ben here" crowd. His ceiling is too low, and we're still looking at QB1's. Eli even seems a better choice to me...slightly lower floor but higher ceiling.

For a lower tier QB1, you want upside potential, not necessarily long term security. As someone noted, there will be plenty of (future) QB13-18 QB's available on waivers.

I went with McNabb, because I think his ceiling is much higher, but certainly would understand someone preferring someone like Palmer. I'd consider Warner too, but we KNOW his career is likely over in a year or two.

McNabb

Palmer

Eli

Big Ben

Warner

Palmer? No one knows how the guy is going to play. He is coming back from really serious surgery. Don't see how he could be a top ten dynasty guy until he proves that he is fully recovered.

I think Big Ben belongs here because we all know he has the skills to be a top 3 QB if the team ever needs him to and he is very consistent. You know that he isn't going to lose you any games and if you are taking a QB at this point you need someone you can count on.

Really? He won't lose you games? He had 7 lost fumbles and 15 int's to 17 TD's this season. Not exactly winning games for you either. In his 5 year career he has thrown for over 18 TD's one time. He had his one fluke fantasy season last year, but the guy is a mediocre fantasy QB. This season, Big Ben had a ppg average of 21st in my league. Despite playing in every game this year he finished 14th in the league in passing TD's and 14 th in passing yards. Big Ben is a gamer and a proven winning QB that when the game is on the line he is proved to be as good as anyone in the league. But as far as QB 9 in dynasty I think there are much better choices.

I voted Schaub. But if 07 is a ceiling for Ben that is a pretty high ceiling IMO.I agree name recognition pushes him up draft lists, but he certainly belongs in the discussion at this point.

The last time he came back from serious surgery he was QB4 then QB9. Has there been some indication that he won't come back from his latest injury?

I thought he avoided having to have the surgery. Am I wrong?

Nope, you are correct. I was about to post the same thing.
