These are consensus dynasty rankings for year 2007 standard FBGs scoring no PPR

If you vote other, please specify.

Also, please comment on your vote, and list any player that should be nominated for the next round.

I like the chatter going on so lets keep that going as we vote.

gheemony made a great point about one way to consider dynasty value for players in rankings by giving 50% value to 2007, 33% to 2008, and 17% to 2009. I know there are many ways to look at this and how hard it is to project for players even for one year. But I think it is significant enough that its worth mentioning. I am sure everyone has a different formula that they might use. But this one to me has some good balance and makes a lot of sense. And honestly probobly should be a topic of discussion in itself but thats another thread. For now just somthing to take into consideration.

1. Ladainian Tomlinson 6/23/1979

2. Larry Johnson 11/19/1979

3. Steven Jackson 7/22/1983

4. Shaun Alexander 8/30/1977

5. Clinton Portis 9/1/1981

6. Frank Gore 5/14/1983

7. Ronnie Brown 12/12/1981

8. Brian Westbrook 9/2/1979

9t. Kevin Jones 8/21/1982

9t. Reggie Bush 3/2/1985

11. Willie Parker 11/11/1980

12. Laurence Maroney 2/5/1985

13. Joseph Addai 5/3/1983

14. Rudi Johnson 10/1/1979

15. Willis McGahee 10/20/1981

16. Maurice Jones-Drew 3/23/1985

17. Adrian Peterson 1985 IIRC

I have Peterson at this point, even a few spots back.
To me this vote comes down to the unknown team and possible upside of Peterson vs. the unknown offensive situation that Cadillac is currently in with Tampa Bay. If I knew Peterson would be the no doubt number 1 RB for a team next year I'd lean toward him but too many rookie RB's find themselves in RBBC roles for a year or two. For that reason only I voted for Cadillac and will vote for Peterson next round (if he doesn't win this vote).

This is a good point, especially given the weight Bia suggests. (50% value to 2007, 33% to 2008, and 17% to 2009.)With that in mind, although I'd still take Peterson over Caddy or Taylor, the vote probably should go to Caddy.

I am not suggesting that this is the only way to approach rankings. Just one way. That is why I began the other topic to get more background and discussion of ways to approach these rankings. This poll right now is tied so I would like to see more votes before moving on. I understand that people have been focused on playoffs more than long term thinking like this lately. I have been also. LT is carrying me to a SB next week in one league. I will have paitience with these polls until they reach a clear conclushion even though it has been open for 2 days now at this point. Somthing closer to 200 votes I think gives a better sample if enough people will participate.

hmmm more votes needed.

If the voting stays like this neck and neck between Caddy and Peterson then I will do a tie breaker poll rather than a run off. A lot of votes going to other Rbs makes me unsure about them clearly being the top 2. Maybe the results will still bear that out but I want to avoid the runoff assumptions if at all possible.

I voted "other". Not suggesting any of the following for #17, but I'd consider Marion BarberIII, Brandon Jacobs and even Ron Dayne over some of those listed.

Well if your voting for one of those 3 over the other players here then your not only suggesting but advocating one of those players at #17. Cool they will be added to the next poll.I could definitly see Barber as a full time Rb being worth this slot and possibly outperforming it. Maybe Brandon Jacobs if he becomes the full time Rb could as well.Ron Dayne? Not so much...

I live about 40 miles from Peterson's home town and have watched him since he was a Jr in HS. This kid brings "it" every play. He has the size, speed, and strength to be one of the all-timers. The only question involves his running style, will he stay healthy?

I'm really surprised by CT not being in at least the top 15.
I think a lot of people question Chester Taylors talent and rightfully so. He is a very versitile Rb but he isn't exceptional in any area. His value comes primarily from being in a good situation as far as having a good offensive line and being a rarity in terms of how many carries he gets/game.I expect him to improve next season as he gets more endurance and conditioning. He wasn't at the level Childress wanted him to be for the workload he recieved this year. He also has not scored a lot of TDs although his yardage has been good due to his workload. It is remotly possible that the Vikings will have a chance to upgrade the position. And if they do they may take it because of thier philosophy of wanting to run the ball as much as they do.Chester Taylor is also a older Rb so it leaves some questions about his longevity as the starter in Minnesota as well.As an asside when people wonder why the Bears took Cedric Benson I do think a small factor in thier decision was that they didn't want the Vikings to be able to take him. The Vikings have not really ever had a true workhorse Rb in thier long history. I don't know that Chester is exactly that either. He broke down from the workload.. just some things to think about right or wrong as to why people may not have overwhelming support for Chester Taylor yet at this point.
