Dynasty rebuild (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

Im a fantasy football veteran but I’m in my first ever dynasty league. My friends friend bailed after tanking and I’ve picked up a horrible team from him. Need some help making some moves and with draft strategy. It’s a 10 team super flex, PPR, no D/st or K, 3 IR, 3 Taxi. My thought process right now is to sell my quality players for quantity and picks because I want to lose games this year and start winning next year. So I’m looking to get out of guys like Lamar, kupp, deebo, and maybe even brown. Really appreciate any suggestions or tips!

My team:

QB1 Lamar Jackson
S Flex Trevor Lawrence
Kirk cousins
Sam Howell
RB1 Chuba Hubbard
RB2 Travis Etienne
Rachaad White
Javonte Williams
Jaleel McLaughlin
Devin Singletary
Antonio Gibson
WR1 AJ Brown
WR2 Courtland Sutton
Flex DK Metcalf
Flex Juwan Jennings
Flex Deebo Samuel
Cooper Kupp
Josh Downs
Taxi Roman Wilson
Gabe Davis
TE David Njoku
Kyle Pitts
Chig Okonkwo
Mike Gesicki

Made my first move.
I traded Javonte Williams (I am not a believer and I love Blue) for Tank Dell, Iosivas (who I am personally very high on although I know the risks.) a 2027 4th rounder, and $10 FAAB, every team gets $100.

In a SF you want to keep Lamar unless he brings an offer you can't refuse. By that I mean a way overpay. He is still good for a few more years and is an elite option if you plan to start "winning next year".

Kupp, Deebo, and Brown are guys to move mid season as that is when they will fetch the best price. You can put them on the block now and see if someone pays full price but it is unlikely. But when teams are driving to a title mid season and need a WR to put them over then you can get a nice haul at that point.

Some general thoughts:

QB: Keep Lamar and T-Law unless you get an above market offer for either. This is a solid QB room for SF

RB: Need a cornerstone player. Chuba is fine but in general nobody here is worth keeping long term. If you can move them for future assets or RB's with some upside do it

WR: Solid WR room for a win now team. You aren't that. You can use this to most improve for the future. Try and target young upside guys that haven't hit yet and future picks. Nobody here is untouchable.

TE: Unless it's TE premium you have too many TE's. Trade any and all of them for future assets.

General dynasty comment: Don't be afraid to make mistakes in trades. You don't have to win all trades. Also don't get into the rut of "playing for next year". Too many people do this and never have a shot because they never let their team get competitive. Don't fall into the trap of looking too far in the future. I tend to look in two year windows (short for dynasty standards) but it has served me well as I am always in contention. Have fun and make the team your own.

Appreciate the suggestions. I think I definetly will hang on to the wrs for a bit. When it comes to Lamar people are very willing to over pay. Just about every team in my league has been sending in offers. With my favorite so far being Baker, Tracy, Olave and next years first for Lamar. One player I’m really gunning for is Penix, I’m trying to swap him for Lawrence straight up, and will add something to it if need be.

That is not nearly enough for Lamar IMO.
Another question for ya. What would you suggest my draft strategy be? I was leaning towards taking Hunter at 3 and grabbing either Golden or Shough at 13. But am now considering moving my 3 back a few spots to take Ward at 5 or 6.
In a SF I doubt Ward lasts to pick 3 let alone to 5 or 6.

In general for a rookie draft I recommend making a combined draft board and really putting the time into to it. Then just take your highest ranked player (regardless of position) when it's your pick.

As far as trading it just depends on your draft board compared to ADP and whether you can maximize value.

I have confirmation that he lasts until 3 at least. If he’s there should I take him?

If you are set on trading Lamar then yes. Does your scoring system essentially require a QB starts in your SF spot? If so, then Ward should be your pick.

Who is going 1 and 2? Jeanty and ???

I’d love to trade Lamar but am content waiting until the deadline when a contender loses their QB and gets desperate. One of my best friends is taking Hampton at 2 which I think is a total reach. I don’t need to play a QB in my SF, I plan on trading Lawrence this season because I think it’s a career year for him and I don’t think he’s very good.

I don’t need to play a QB in my SF,
I understand that. However, that was not what I meant. What I meant was is the league scoring such that you "must" play a QB in the SF spot because their scoring is so much higher than other positions that you will be at a big disadvantage if you don't play two QB's? Not all SF formats are set up that way but way too many cheatsheets and draft strategies push as if this is the case.

So is your scoring skewed to the point that in order to compete you need two quality QB's?

Oh, it looks like in the past about 5 out of 6 playoff teams are using 2 QBs and there’s usually one team that is just so deep at wr or rb they don’t need to. But ideally I’ll be getting rid of Lamar and Lawrence and having 1 young qb this year then 2 next year.

The best way to figure this out is to check the scoring history. How many QB's are in the top 20 scorers in the league? Top 50? etc. This will give you an idea if a QB is really the best option for the SF spot.

Being deep at RB or WR doesn't prohibit the need to use a QB in the SF spot but it may be out of necessity (not having a solid QB2). It really is best seen based on top scorer position distribution for the league.

Out of the last 3 years in the top 20, QB’s have accounted for 11,9, & 9 spots from 2024 to 2022 respectively. When we look at the top 30 it’s 14, 12, and 12.
