Dynasty rookie draft question (1 Viewer)

I'm in a league that is having it's rookie draft a snake draft instead of (what I thought was) the standard 1-12, 1-12. Has anyone else played in a league that has a snake rookie draft? Am I crazy for thinking it makes no sense?

yeah makes no sense. There was an open spot posted in looking for leagues a couple weeks ago that I was interested in until I saw the snake rookie draft. That was enough to keep me from joining.

If it's a new league, then it makes sense. You can do that (snake draft for initial rookie draft) or toss the rookies in with the vets for the draft.

If it's an existing league, where you have established W-L records form last season, then there is certainly no reason for a snake draft for rookies.

I also suspect that the commish is either an idiot or unscrupulous. Either way, you don't want that as a person running your league. Check with the rest of the league. Hope you have leaguesafe.

My league is a little unique in that we only allow 2 add/drops from the FA pool in season. So because of that, we usually have some nice and interesting players available the next year in the draft. During our rookie draft we draft the standard worst to best order, with the two people in the finals pick second to last and last. The first rd must be a rookie. The 2nd rd can be a rookie or one of the vets that is not currently on a team(in the same worst to first order). Rd 3 snakes back and then we have rd 4.

I am in a league that does this, but it is more by accident than anything. the commish wrote the rules wrong, and it has never managed to be overturned. Part of the issue is a few members doing a bit, but it is also a deep devy league where there up to 60 underclass players drafted in a separate (also snake) draft, so there are not a ton "elite' prospects in any year so not like a "normal" rookie draft anyway.

That's a ridiculous rule. That means the champ essentially gets 2 1st round picks, as 2.01 is only the 13th pick. My question is why would you play in a league like that? The league must be run by a newbie, and the other guys must be as stupid as he is for allowing that. Get out now. I can only imagine what kind of other rules you have.
