First of all, sorry if previously discussed. Also, please move if this is not appropriate for the Shark Pool.

With respect to a dynasty start-up draft (12 team, standard scoring) this year, including rookies, where would most prefer to draft from, outside of the first 4 spots? #5/middle round pick or does #12/end of round pick offer better value.

This, of course, assumes most would prefer drafting in spots 1-4. Please add your thoughts if that is a bad assumption.

I believe this is one of the biggest myths out there.....best draft slot? It simply depends on who you select and where you select them. That being said, the top few selections hold more perceived value, so it enhances what you could gather in a trade. So in a startup draft, I would prefer to start with a higher draft selection simply for that reason. But in the end, the players picked throughout the draft will decide your fate, not a draft position. Based on the depth of the current fantasy pool, savvy owners should be able to "make it happen" from any spot, i.e., build a good dynasty team/foundation.

There appears to be a drop off in talent and or value after the top 7 picks in a startup

Chris Johnson

Adrian Peterson

MJD

Ray Rice

Andre Johnson

Larry Fitzgerald

Calvin Johnson < probably still going top 7

so with that said it would be the best for your team to be in one of those top 7 spots for the players scoring and trade value

If I actually have to draft the pick i'll take something 9-10 so I can grab Rodgers/Stud WR. Otherwise give me #1 so I can trade it..

My one and only bump. Thanks for the votes. Nobody is a fan of the #2 spot, at least when talking only about the top 4 spots.

If there's a period of time before the draft, take #1 simply for trade value alone. Trade down to where you want to be and get the bonus of extra value.
