Dynasty start-up mock draft (1 Viewer)

If we get a massive (11 or 12 out of 12) agreement, I agree with -2 per int/lost fumble. I kind of assumed it was a given.

I'm also ok with it as is, but I think most people assumed negatives for turnovers and won't mind. I'm good either way. Also, thanks J-Dawg for taking my PM list and making the pick.

Forsett write-up

I had a few guys here, and needed a back...but I wanted to go receiver. I just didnt think that any of the receivers fit into my plans like I wanted (I liked Harvin but not with Rice, and I don't see what others see in Maclin) so I went with a young guy who, IMO, will surprise over the next few years.
I like Justin Forsett very much for dynasty.....along with another RB who shall go un-named at this time.....

Hopefully you are thinking of a different RB...he should go unnamed another 2 or 3 rounds until I pick him!

I think it's a real league. We can run it on a free site that will carry rosters over year to year, such as but not limited to FleaFlicker or (I think) ESPN.

Guys, im going to make a judgement call here. I, and am sure most others assumed we were subtacting points for turnovers. Ive havnt been in a league that hast since the first league i did when i was a teenager, and the only thing we counted then was TD's. Since subtracting for turnovers has been the standard, i am going to include it in the scoring here. It will be -2 points for interceptions, and fumles lost.

Although im pretty sure this hasnt come into play in anyones draft so far, i appologize for any inconvenience.

ookook, please make your selecyion accordingly.

Go deep.....you don't have Donsmith's picks...???

Man, we could turn the corner quick if you did........

I'm cool with that scoring call......ookook just took Jay Cutler with his last pick (5.09).....you are up Go deep.....

Exactly, if there is enough interest to go all out, i might even flip the bill for MFL.

But he did so thinking we were not subtracting for turnovers.

I agree that we go -2 for INTs and Fum lost, and that its Ookook's pick - so that he can take Cutler or someone else based on that info.

Donsmith - I was just looking over your team in your signature...it looks like it is in ROUGH shape. Did you recently pick it up, or has it been in rebuilding mode the past couple of seasons?

Just ouch, man. Flacco as your #1 QB, Thomas Jones as your #1 RB, and Britt/Bryant as your #1 WR, not to mention your shaky TE position. Your Defenses are stellar, at least, but other than that it is a little down.

Just picked it up this offseason. I know I'm in for quite a challenge. Not expecting ANYTHING this year though. More hopeful about my other dynasty team (in the middle of a 16team startup at the moment). Through 9 rounds I've got Rodgers, Matthews, Wells, M.Bush, Nicks, Bryant, Benn, Carlson. Got 4 picks in the 11th as well. Don't think I'll do much this year but hopeful for the future.

Concur.@Rody, re Moss, I was sitting there debating (Harvin was one of the guys I was looking at, Boldin another) and I was like, what am I doing, it's the fifth round and it's Randy freaking Moss.

Count me in as another who thought we would take points away for turnovers.

That's me done writeups for the picks made over the weekend.

I would support paying in $7 or whatever and playing on MFL.

I can pay for the league if there is a consensus, set Go Deep as commish, and you guys can send me the $.

Not too keen to get involved in another pay league when there's free options out there and this wouldn't be a priority to most.

I agree - I am in 5 pay leagues already, and another one, even for $7, is not in my wallet's best interests.
What's everyones thoughts on doing a potential points league or something like that? Trades would still be allowed but it would remove the need to input lineups each week etc.

We talked about Don's bad team he took over, while we are waiting, let's see your best dynasty roster...

Will post mine in a few

That startup is my best (only other) dynasty team and it's only got 8 players, it's already better than the one in my sig!

Its $7 guys! That's a hamburger and a coke. If you're lucky. I just can't view that as a significant financial decision. I am happy to cover anyone for whom that cash is an actual issue.

After that, it'd cost you a lineup per week. I don't need another league - and was opposed to joining one. But either this is just a mock and someone can look back at it later if they want to evaluate how the Round 1 QB teams turned out ( I think that point has been well made), or we can play a cheap league and see what happens. With some of the good picks, I think there might turn out to be some pretty decent teams in here and quite a competitive struggle. Or maybe there's not enough interest and we just let it go.

Some mindless rosterwide points total, to me, doesn't show anything. I think we either play it or not. I can go either way, but would only want to play it as a league if people are going to take it at least halfway seriously. I'm not at all sure we have a group of owners that care to do that?

5.10 Go deep selects Ben Tate, RB, Hou, (The Texans didnt take him in the 2nd round to sit on the bench. At least thats what im hoping)

I'm hoping that this becomes an actual league. It wouldn't be high on the priority scale for me, but it would be the one league where I know that everybody is a quality owner, can't say that about my other leagues where's there's always one or two guys below the rest in terms of ability.

5.09 Mr. Peterson selcts Antonio Gates, TE, SD(via draft list)
I'm not sure I would've went TE normally here, but with a small run of TE's going and my #1 guy still there then I thought it was an easy pick. Last year he had one of his best years ever. Add in the fact that the Chargers lost one of the best recieving RB's in the game, will lose thier #1 WR for at least 4 games (if he ever signs with them again) and has a rookie RB behind Rivers. I think Gates numbers could actually see an increase.

This is where i am at. We have the rest of the draft to decide. It will be a free league either way. I dont expect anyone to have these league as a top priority. Just put in a weely lineup, and respond to a trade offer if you get one.

5.05 WR Jeremy Maclin, PHI
Maclin is one of my favorite dynasty sleepers heading into this season. He has the talent and upside to post similar numbers as DeSean Jackson at a fraction of the price. Jackson went 3.01 and I was hoping I could wait at least another round before grabbing Maclin, but, the way this draft has played out so far has been proof that if you want a guy, you can't sleep on your sleeper. Plenty of people I thought would be available later have gone higher than I anticipated, Felix Jones, LeSean McCoy, Jahvid Best, and Justin Forsett who was going to be my pick in Round 6. Absolutely gutted he came off the board before me, my options for my RB3 are looking less desirable by the minute.

3.05 J-Dawg selects Ryan Grant, RB, GB (via draft list)
Not very happy with this pick. Grant is a consolation prize because I had really wanted Shonn Greene here instead and also had my sights set on Brandon Marshall with this pick. LeSean McCoy was also a player I was looking at but deemed as too pricey in the 3rd round and decided to wait, in hindsight I shouldn't have let him escape me. While not flashy, Grant is at least somewhat consistent and given the huge RB run thus far in the draft I will need somebody reliable as my second starter.

The reason like MFL for the league if we run it is somewhat selfish and simple: every single other league I am in (about 7 IIRC) is there so it is easy to go through and set line-ups.

Me too, plus MFL is far superior to other sites in just about every way.

You there GD?
Yep, and im taking....

6.03 Go deep selects Montario Hardesty, RB, Cle.(Another RB selected in the 2nd round of the NFL draft, and should get a shot to start. The reports out if camp have been glowing, but then again, its only July, so i wont get too excited)

Happy enough with those picks, don't really like picking at the turn. Would pick nearer the middle if given the choice. Thanks to jeter for making the picks in my absence. I suppose I could part with 7 bucks, would need everyone to be keen though, if there's a chance this league might fall apart I'd rather do it in a free site.

Just to add my thoughts......I would prefer it stay a free league.....I've got no problem turning in a lineup each week though and was looking forward to weekly competition.

Rody
