Dynasty Startup Draft (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Just joined a new dynasty league with some friends. It's a H2H points league. 12 teams. I really don't know what I'm doing. I follow baseball closely enough to do fine in redraft leagues, but I don't know about all of the phenoms coming up, and I'm pretty much heading towards having a decent 30+ team with little or no long-term upside whatsoever. Halp.

Anyway, just going to post the system here and update the draft, if people feel like helping me out with some thoughts/ideas, that'd be great. If not, I'll let the thread slip into obscurity in a few days.

Godspeed.

It's not a bad team although it's impossible to tell for sure without comparing with other teams. Hanley at 1.03 is pretty surprising. You may need some MI depth for next year if Young doesn't maintain eligibility. In a deep league like this, you'll need to anticipate changes in closer roles.

Jonny Gomes probably has no value this year or any other, but Dusty Baker does some surprising things.

Josh Fields is listed twice. Do you have both the CWS and SEA players?

MI is definitely a weak spot for me, mainly because people started grabbing them very early and very often. Barely startable scrubs were flying off the board, and I basically decided to just keep waiting and trying to get better quality players at other positions.

Couple reasons Gomes went.1) There's a salary cap in this league, I chose not to include that info here since it's not terribly interesting, but basically I was drafting high salary guys too fast and needed to look at some cheap risky players.

2) I'm not into "deep" drafts like this usually, so I'm basically drafting anyone who is under a certain salary and whose name I recognize or read somewhere on a random message board. I had Gomes on my redraft team like 2 years ago, lol.

Yes. The 3B Fields, probably read his name somewhere as a sleeper, the second Fields, the reliever on SEA, happened to catch a blurb about him when he signed, and he seemed like a decent pick up. I can stash him on my ML roster until he gets a bigger role (hopefully) in the SEA 'pen. And again, both very cheap.

Coming around on my next pick now, these are the two names at the top of my list:

McPherson, Dallas 3B FLA - again, just taking a flier on a post-hype guy, his power potential is intriguing if he can win a starting spot.

Anderson, Josh CF ATL - looks like he's in line to lead-off in ATL, I don't think I have anyone who could play CF behind Kemp (other than Stanton, who is a couple years away of course)

I know it's stupid to try and ask for suggestions without people knowing who is left in the pool, but I doubt the interest in this thread warrants me posting the 370 or so players drafted, lol. If anyone has any deep sleepers or an opinion on McPherson or Anderson, I'd be happy to hear it.
