Dynasty Watch - WR Charone Peake - NY Jets (1 Viewer)

pghrob

Hail to the Chief
Someone just drafted this guy in one my leagues in the 4th round, and I honestly didn't know who the hell he was, which hardly ever happens during draft day for most of us I'd say.  Ever since I've been on him looking and figuring out who he is.

surprised you had never heard of him. Bloom had him at #17 in his predraft 100

17. Charone Peake, WR, Clemson - Peake is athletically gifted with very strong character reports, but a torn ACL and great wide receiver groups at Clemson have kept him from a signature season, despite NFL size and speed. Hands and ball skills lapses plague his game, but Peake has a ton of latent upside as a late bloomer a la Martavis Bryant.

Charone Peake Film on Draft Breakdown

FBG had him at #37 overall in their rookie rankings

Lance Zierlein had Peake rated pretty highly. Here are WR he had rated in similar range.

5.91  Shepard, Sterling    WR
5.9    Perriman, Breshad    WR
5.9    Strong, Jaelen    WR
5.9    Cooks, Brandin    WR
5.9    Moncrief, Donte    WR
5.9     Boyd, Tyler    WR
5.84     Peake, Charone    WR
5.81     Thomas, Michael    WR
5.8    Dorsett, Phillip    WR
5.7    Green-Beckham, Dorial    WR
5.7    Smith, Devin    WR
5.7    Adams, Davante    WR
5.7    Matthews, Jordan    WR

Slightly higher than Devin Smith going into his second season.

Peake was the 12th rated 2016 WR from the consensus board.

I took him 4.05 in a rookie dynasty draft back in May. I knew he wouldn't last the whole draft to free agency as he was taken as early at the late 3rd in other drafts at the time.

He seems like a quintessential last pick flier in rookie drafts for deep dynasty leagues. All boom and no bust. Will require some time.  Can mentor under Decker and Marshall.  As a second team wr, he can work with Geno or Hackenberg and develop chemistry with future QB.
