These are consensus dynasty rankings for year 2007 standard FBGs scoring no PPR

If you vote other, please specify.

Also, please comment on your vote, and list any player that should be nominated for the next round.

I like the chatter going on so lets keep that going as we vote. Discussion about why you prefer one of these players compared to the others is useful to everyone involved and offers insight into how people in your leagues may view these players compared to others.

gheemony made a great point about one way to consider dynasty value for players in rankings by giving 50% value to 2007, 33% to 2008, and 17% to 2009. I know there are many ways to look at this and how hard it is to project for players even for one year. But I think it is significant enough that its worth mentioning. I am sure everyone has a different formula that they might use. But this one to me has some good balance and makes a lot of sense. And now has become a topic of discussion in this thread: http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...=296123&hl= I welcome you all to read this and offer your perspectives on methods you use in determining where to rank players in dynasty leagues.

1. Steve Smith 5/12/1979

2. Chad Johnson 1/9/1978

3. Larry Fitzgerald 8/31/1983

4. Torry Holt 6/5/1976

5. Reggie Wayne 11/17/1978

6. Roy Williams 12/20/1981

7. Anquan Boldin 10/3/1980

8. Andre Johnson 7/11/1981

9. Javon Walker 10/14/1978

10. Marques Colston 6/5/1983

11. Terrell Owens 12/7/1973

12. Darrell Jackson 12/6/1978

13. Lee Evans 3/11/1981

14. Marvin Harrison 8/25/1972

15. TJ Houshmandzadeh 9/26/1977

I think this slot could go a lot of different ways and some discussion/debate on which Wr you prefer and why might be useful at this point.

 I debated between Hines, Edwards and Calvin Johnson. Either would be a good pick here. Then there's Plaxico who isn't a bad option either. Proven, young with some experience, or all world talent. Tough choice.

Edwards seems pretty damn underrated.

People forget he was coming off a torn ACL?

I have a hard time picking Harrison's 2 more years (at best) over the next 10 years of Edwards.

60 879 6 coming off a torn ACL? On a horrible team? Browns getting their probowl olineman back, maybe Quinn, Winslow looking pretty good (who just wore out late in the year).

I don't see how Edwards doesn't become a lock for 75/1000/7 for the next 7-8 years. Guys like Harrison are a win now type guy. Harrison might be the 2007 Tiki Barber. 35 years old is pretty scary in dynasty.

Regardless, I voted for Edwards here.

Edwards is underrated?

+--------------------------+-------------------------+ | Rushing | Receiving |+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+| Year TM | G | Att Yards Y/A TD | Rec Yards Y/R TD |+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+| 2005 cle | 10 | 0 0 0.0 0 | 32 512 16.0 3 || 2006 cle | 16 | 4 12 3.0 0 | 60 879 14.7 6 |+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+| TOTAL | 26 | 4 12 3.0 0 | 92 1391 15.1 9 |+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+
I am trying to figure out what he has done to be getting as many votes as he has been quite honestly.I could say a lot of things about Edwards but underrated would not be one of them.

Potential collides with Father time in this group. IMHO, the guy to take is WR with the best five years ahead of him...things change so quickly from year to year, if you can locate some potential known quantities in these scenarios, its easier to figure out the equation:

Randy Moss 2/13/1977 - Who will be the HC? Who will be the QB? Does he stay in OAK? Is he done? Incredible nose dive in value at this point.

Great pick for Gamblers

Santana Moss 6/1/1979 - Campbell looks to be the guy for awhile, and HC seems set for the next few years. Also, Moss was WR28 in PPR despite missing 2 games and had two of his best three games with Campbell (who only started six games)

Great Pick for Conservative low-risk types

Plaxico Burress 8/12/1977 - He's got Eli, who will be around for awhile. HC - not too sure, but I'd expect Coughlin to be gone in the near future, be it next week, or in 1-2 seasons. Burress is sort of boom or bust, but he has been a Top 20 WR since he got to NY.

Great pick for a team with a real Stud WR1

Donald Driver 2/2/1975 - Who will be his QB when Favre leaves? Getting up there in years and Jennings is emerging.

Great pick for 2007 championship run

Laveranues Coles 12/29/1977 - Better performer in PPR leagues, but 16 overall is too high for him. His ceiling is just about here anyway, so not the value pick in this slot.

Great Pick as WR3

Braylon Edwards 2/21/1983 - Do you believe in Cleveland? Do you think Frye or Anderson can get him enough catches to justify the selection here? Who knows what coach will be brought in next and what system they'll run. Too early to take him IHMO.

Great Pick for Builders - people patient enough to wait and see on a good player

Hines Ward 3/8/1976 - Ben will be around, but Cowher is gone. Ward is entering his 10th season, too. I love the guy, but he is not the pick here.

Good pick for trying to win now.

Donte' Stallworth 11/10/1980 - Eagles spread the wealth too much, good player in a good situation, but consistency isn't there.

Good pick for risk takers - If Stallworth can stay healthy and become a true WR1 on the Eagles woners will be rewarded.

Calvin Johnson [ 20 ] - What team? What QB? What system? Too early without ever even playing a down. Antonio Bryant was wildly hyped, too. Too much risk/reward for 16th overall WR.

Great pick for builders/gamblers

Chris Chambers 8/12/1978 - Lots of ?'s. Culpepper? New HC?

Great pick for gamblers and Dolphin fans

Nice summary of the Wrs available here HK.

I will leave this poll up for the rest of the morning to get over 100 votes and see if any Wr distances themselves from the rest. If not then I will start a runoff or tiebreaker poll to decide between the leaders here.

This poll has been up for 4 days now and no winner has been found. Need to move on one way or another.

I've got a question for you guys, how long do you try and see into the future ? I build my dynasty squads for around 3 years, will a 30 year WR be around for 3 years ? Yeah sure, and that means I don't hesitate to pick a guy like Hines Ward.

Let us hear how young a WR considered for dynasty should be ?

Awesome question. The thing is, different people build teams based on different goals and criteria. One of the biggest things that impacts rankings like this is what type of FFer you are based on willingness to take on risk, versus patience to let guys develop. Also, as soon as people get into the WR2 range, the biggest thing to look at is who do you want to pair with your WR1, and who will be around at WR3. Some guys like to pick the "steady eddie's" who will be pretty reliable, but rarely if ever, have a monster game. Other teams try for a mix, and some load up on nothing but boom or bust types.Seems like this point is really one of personnel preference based on many factors. Probably why tiering or buckets is adopted by many.

The Wr position does seem to be a magnet for short term vs. long term strategy more so than the other positions. Perhaps this is because of a Wrs dependency on other players on thier team to produce numbers compared to a Rb or Qb. Perhaps it is because of somthing else. But the Wr position does seem to be one where people are more divided in the way they value them.

There has been some good discussion about this in the thread I linked at the begining of this post: http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...=296123&hl= and I am hoping that more people will join the discussion there as we have at this point only had somthing like 10 posters contribute to it so far.

*edit to fix what was apparently a bad link. I think its good now.

What we have to ask ourselves is, if this were a draft in a startup Dynasty league, who would you pick as your wr 2 at this point? By the way, I'd rather have Reggie Brown than Stallworth.

I am still struggling with Calvin Johnson and Braylon Edwards leading this group tied at 21. I guess a tiebreaker poll on these 2 is coming.
