[DYNASTY] "Your" players (1 Viewer)

Pretty simple question here, do you value the players you drafted either as rookies, in the initial draft or waivers, higher than other players on your roster, all else being equal?

Is it because you liked that player's talent to begin with, have you enjoyed watching that player play more, or do you simply like being "right"?

For me, I find a combination of all 3 makes the players I draft in the rookie draft almost untradeable. I've come to enjoy watching "my" players progress and frankly I'd rather do petty well with the players I "discover" before they excel vs. trading players with potential for proven older vets even if they are worth the trade.

I've seen "no-trade" redraft leagues, but are there any "no-trade" dynasty leagues? Seems in a way they'd be very boring, but probably require more pure football assessment skill than bargaining skill. Is there any way to make a league where you develop your own players but you can still trade the vets? Would this even be fun? or maybe it's just better to decide for yourself that you aren't trading a core set of players.

maybe I'm just rambling drunk early tonight.

I thought this was about any of the players on my roster, and I was all set to come in and say "I'm not higher on the players I own, I own the players I'm higher on". Then I saw that you were just talking about players I personally drafted as rookies... and no, I don't feel any special attachment to the guys I drafted compared to the guys I added or the guys I traded for. In fact, a lot of my core right now are guys that I've traded my own rookie draft picks for.

I think we all value our players more if not just to try to convice ourselves they are worth more on the trade market! For me though I think it is not wanting to pull the trigger and then have the guys I traded blow up and become studs.

If I'm convinced a player is a great talent and will be a star in the NFL then I absolutely value him more than others after I draft him. Such a player right now is Devin Thomas, who I drafted in 3 dynasty leagues. I won't trade him because I really think he takes over the #1 job in the next couple of years and becomes a star. As of now I am looking like a fool and I'm hoping Thomas can keep his head on straight and prove me right.

Sometimes I value my own players less... but then they aren't my players for long, because I trade them away. Sometimes I value someone else's players more... but then they aren't someone else's players for log, because I trade for them. Generally, I think that I should be higher on the guys on my roster than anyone else in the league, or else I should find whoever is higher and trade.

I sometimes find myself tending to overvalue some of the guys on my roster only because I have chosen those players and I believe in them. Not everyone though, perhaps I just have a more optimistic view of my players.....but in saying this doesn't hinder my ability to trade because I will still turn my roster over via trades or WW pick ups for one reason......I try as much as possible to take the emotion out of it and not overvalue anyone too much otherwise I think that I might end up with judgment that is clouded by things that won't help me win.

I agree with SSOG's first thought which IMO is pretty basic.

I trade plenty, I've just come to realize that I get more satisfaction when the players I discover perform to their potential. I enjoy winning of course, but trading for Larry Fitzgerald and having him perform as he should is less exciting to me than drafting DeSean Jackson, Chris Johnson, or Dallas Clark and watching the rest of the world catch on to talent I saw. Obviously I miss some(many), but the hits are rewarding and become untradeable to me.ETA: when I say "discover", by no means do I mean I pulled some guy from a D3 school nobody has ever head of, but a "correct" assessment of talent from watching the college game.
