Eagles RB Westbrook sits on Friday

Running back Brian Westbrook did not practice on Friday, and head coach Andy Reid will update Westbrook's condition at his post-practice press conference.

Westbrook left practice on Thursday afternoon with a knee injury and is probable for Sunday.

Westbrook walked off the practice field under his own power early in the Thursday workout. Media members gathered at the NovaCare Complex as word spread of the injury, but in the end the injury appears minor and Westbrook is likely to be on the field Sunday against the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.

So this is more just resting him to be ready for Sunday right? Every indication seems that he will start and play?

added a ? to the title.

article is dated the 14th. not sure if it is a typo, but we should no soon as Reids presser is shortly.

I don't think so. If Reid is evasive at this press conference today I'm gonna be worried. Not to be alarmist, but when Buck's knee problems would come up they always started out as "no big deal" and then a week or two later we'd find out that he's gone for the year.

I picked up Buck-Dog last night as soon as I learned of this injury. I'm SLIM at RB in a 14-team Dynasty. This would help! :blackdot:

If you haven't done so already, WB owners, go get Buckhalter NOW if you still can. It may already be too late.
While Buck would still be a starting NFL RB with Westbrook out, he'll likely provide 40-50% of Westbrook's output, especially in PPR leagues.Translation - this would suck for Westbrook owners regardless.

This is why I passed on Westy in my PPR league and took Bush in Round 2. I love Westbrook in PPR scoring and I love the way he plays but he never stays healthy. He always get dinged up one way or another.

Westbrook owner here and very worried, but did anyone actually think he would practice today after leaving practice early with an injury yesterday?

If anything is even slightly wrong with him he won't practice at all. He just doesn't need it.

yeah i would think moats is a nice pickup also since he will fill the westbrook role.

i think moats is there on most waiver wires but buck is already taken.

:o Remember this:Reporter: "So you and coach Brown got caught up on Saturday about practice?" Iverson: "If I can't practice, I can't practice. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that at all. It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about practice. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game last it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that? Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about practice. We're talking about practice man. (laughter from the media crowd) We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice. When you come to the arena, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about practice right now. (more laughter)

 Anyone with half a brain knows I was just slipping this in here for the fun of it. Like everyone needs you to tell us that a quote from someone who plays in the NBA is irrelevant when talking about Brian Westbrook....

Believe me when I say that there was nothing fun (or funny) about your post.

During the after-practice PC, Reid wouldn't elaborate what type of injury it was (other than the obvious for injury-report reasons). Go to www.Philadelphiaeagles.com and listen for yourselves.

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook didn't practice today due to inflammation in his knee, but coach Andy Reid said he expects him to be in the lineup for Sunday's game at Lincoln Financial Field against the New York Giants.

Westbrook left practice early yesterday with the injury.

"We kept him out and treated him, and he is getting better," Reid said following Friday's practice.

When asked if he anticipates Westbrook being 100 percent by kickoff, Reid replied, "Yes. He should be."

Reid added that he knows who will return punts in that game, but he wasn't interested in giving out the information. Westbrook averaged 8.3 yards on three punt returns in last week's 24-10 win over Houston.

Running back and punt returner Reno Mahe, who is recovering from a high ankle sprain, practiced today. Reid said he is listed as questionable for Sunday's game.

The one player listed as out is cornerback Lito Sheppard, who is sidelined with a right ankle sprain.

Let's keep this strictly about Westbrook please, it's not a joking matter. Updates?
Some people in this thread need to step away from the edge a little bit... ... either that or you missed McD's "snack time" today.
I agree, and I can see the humor in the Iverson post. The point is well taken. This is Westbrook and he doesn't need the extra day of practice. Additionally, why risk the practice the day right after the injury?

That doesn't seem "evasive" to me - that seems pretty direct.

Now, that doesn't mean Reid isn't flat out lying, but from a FF perspective, that would be enough for me to put him in my lineup... if I had him... which I don't...
