If you don't mind my asking, where are you getting this from?PHI gives '07 2nd rounder....did anyone else hear this?
A friend.....why I posted rumor....completely unconfirmed. Trying to find out more.If you don't mind my asking, where are you getting this from?PHI gives '07 2nd rounder....did anyone else hear this?
Lions can't afford to take a $12 mil cap hit.EDIT TO ADD: And the Eagles surely wouldn't pay a 2nd rounder to get Williams, who is currently running with the Lions' 3rd team WRs.PHI gives '07 2nd rounder....did anyone else hear this?
***only a rumor I heard - just asking***
Does make no sense...that's why I asked. I read DET looked into getting rid of him but can't afford the cap hit. A 2nd rounder seems very steep...who knows, maybe they'd take the hit for a 2nd rounder? I can't see the Eagles giving that up though.Lions can't afford to take a $12 mil cap hit.EDIT TO ADD: And the Eagles surely wouldn't pay a 2nd rounder to get Williams, who is currently running with the Lions' 3rd team WRs.PHI gives '07 2nd rounder....did anyone else hear this?

A 2nd rounder is steep for a 2nd year, 22 year old WR who wouldn't have any guaranteed money owed to him?Does make no sense...that's why I asked. Nothing on the Lions boards either.
May I suggest a :IBTL:

***only a rumor I heard - just asking***the 1.10 last year was steep for a WR a year + removed from the game, a 2nd would show Millen is a total idiot.
This is nothing new, he was late all the time. Millen actually joked that his siging bonus was probably fined away. Mooch did nothing about it but hit him in the pocketbook. Maybe, sending him home will motivate him differently.Lions | M. Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports Detroit Lions WR Mike Williams (hamstring) was sent home early from last week's minicamp because he missed a treatment for his sore hamstring and was then late for a meeting. Team president Matt Millen was responsible for sending Williams home Thursday, June 1.
IMO they would be lucky to get a 2nd day pick but it will never happen due to the cap hit they would take if dealt this year.

I know, he's undisciplined, lazy, and a bust so fat. unlikely to reach his potential. But, that potential is too much to give up at this point for less than a 1st, so I dont see MW leaving Detroit, unless it's for someone like Donnie Edwards (no rumor here, just saying he's the kind of player), or some other player being shopped that helps Detroit immediately.Lions | M. ...and that equals BMW to the Eagles. Wow.Saw this in SI.com today in their Truth and Rumors section. They got it from NFL.com:
Lions officials believe WR Mike Williams has not worked hard, has not been accountable, has not carried himself the way a first-round pick or any NFL player should. The team even has looked into the cost of ridding itself of Williams, but realized it cannot. If the Lions were to cut or trade Williams, they would be hit with a whopping $12 million salary-cap charge. -- NFL.com
Not sure why you guys want a :IBTL: From the beginning I said it was a rumor. Plenty of rumors get discussed on this board that don't happen. A good friend of mine who is also and Eagles fan said he heard this from a Comcast producer that he knows. He's not the type to just mess around with me, who knows, maybe the guy who told him did it as a joke since he knows he's a Birds fan. It certainly appears it isn't true but I don't see the harm in discussing itNothing on the Lions boards either.
May I suggest a :IBTL:I second that motion !
It's $12 mil, but if I understand the new Collective Bargaining Agreement correctly, this year's hit would only be for the amortized portion of his signing bonus, and then the rest of the hit would be applied to next year's cap.The whole goal of the new language is to facilitate trades. Cap hits still make trading expensive players difficult, but at least now you have a year to brace your cap for the impact of the hit.Would Detroit have a cap hit if they traded Williams? Even so, I doubt any team would want to risk a 2nd on Williams with the way he's been dogging it lately.
Last month I traded BMW and T. Jones for the 1.5, 2.1, and a high 1st for next year, but no way could I get that now. BMW's quickly becomming a lemon.
