Ebola (2 Viewers)

OK, so how many people will catch Ebola from that flight?
PROBABLY none, but enough of a chance to be very worried about it. It only takes one. But it's impossible to quarantine everyone she came in contact with in Akron, at the airport, and on the plane.

It isnt even only about the flight, it's also about the day or so leading up to that where she was in contact with a lot of people all over the area.
Ok then how many people will be get Ebola from her prior to being hospitalized?
This is impossible to answer you do realize.

But the answer, again, is PROBABLY none................is "probably" good enough for you?
so none. why is the sky falling?
So probably is good enough for you, nice.

Because PROBABLY means PROBABLY. PROBABLY doesnt mean NONE. All it takes is ONE ####### PERSON. But we wont know about it for about 2 weeks, maybe more.

Probably has to be good enough right now, because that particular horse is out of the barn. Her viral load at that stage is likely quite low. The odds are minimal. We'll know more in 21 days.

Did I disagree with this somewhere or something??

"probably" is definitely not good enough though. Unfortunately, its all we have.

But yeah, if she infected anyone in Akron or the Airport (and who knows where the hell they traveled to), we wont know for a couple weeks or more.

There are 100 US deaths a year from chickenpox, 40,000 from flu, 500 from meningitis.
then why the hell are we wasting resources in Africa when we could be stamping out chicken pox, flu, and meningitis.. thanks Eobalma <_<
We're not really. Even though a lot was promised, very, very, very little was delivered.
But you must be brilliant to be offering to fly a plane in quarantine. GENIUS.

Just an FYI, they have the plane quarantined and are decontaminating it.

That's a ham-sandwich for ya. Ham away
But are they burning it like you suggested? They must not take Ebola serious.
no, they dont take my posts as literally as you
You wrote the nonsense .
And as I said, you wanna fly a plane in quarantine. GENIUS!!!!!!!!
Sure....no people and open bar.

If the world is turning into zombies and there is an ebola vaccine that can save you will Jenny McCarthy take it?
Rather have zombies. I think that would be easier to manage than a huge ebola outbreak...............unless they are the kind of zombies than run. #### that ####

That's why I said we're doomed. Ebola ain't got nothin' on hysteria and idiocy.

I already stated, I am a nurse, working on the west side of cleveland as we speak. Slow night. all my patients asleep.

Nurses wake patients up all the time.

I would agree. Shutting down isn't doing anything. If they have one person they are worried about, well, that one person should not be coming to work and should voluntarily get checked out, or course.

As much as I am concerned, I am not going to run around figure 8s in the street yelling and screaming waiving my arms over my head.

Maybe the manager just wants the day off and using this as an excuse, who knows.

Burn down the bank, imo.

All ya need is a gun and a bottle rocket. Ask Carol.

So she didnt vomit or bleed on the plane so chances of anyone getting it are slim. Meanwhile, two nurses got it even though they were wearing protective gear. Were they vomited on? Bled on? They're obviously lying about the chances being slim.
If people wearing protective gears are getting it, and someone on a plane develops symptoms, even if it hard to transmit, all it takes is one person leaving that plan, and spreading it elsewhere in the airport for this to spread everywhere.

Panic? Perhaps. Ridiculous? Hopefully.

All I know is that this has gone from it's not an epidemic (and it still isn't in the US) to this one hospital, with one patient, and nurses wearing gear to now 2 infected, and one traveling.

Not good and damn scary

It's gone from not an epidemic in this country and has quickly morphed into not an epidemic in this country.

PANIC!!!!

Scary especially since the incubation period is so long so we have no idea who is currently sick right now. Could be nobody, could be 50 people in 3-4 weeks.

With as crazy as people are kinda going right now, 3-4 weeks right now should hopefully clear this up a bit. Could be pretty much in the clear, could have a couple cases pop up and were are in the same position as right now x2, or could be 10-20 cases and all #### breaks loose.

Just an FYI, since you dont seem to know, there has NOT BEEN ENOUGH TIME PASSED for us to even know yet. If people have been infected we wont know for at least a week or more from now.

It's not an epidemic in this country, but we've also been repeatedly told by our government / CDC that this isn't something we need to concern ourselves with in this country.

Nobody is saying panic, at least I'm not, but ignoring any news on this is ignorance.

I believe it takes up to 21 days to show symptoms.

BECAUSE IT'S UP TO A 3 WEEK INCUBATION PERIOD. It's only cropped up within the last week or two.

What, don't you read ANYTHING?

Okay. And? Do you have proof the CDC has been wrong about this not being something Americans need to worry about?

Okay. And? Do you have proof the CDC has been wrong about this not being something Americans need to worry about?
I have proof in that there are a few cases in the US right now, and clearly we are unprepared in terms of handling people with ebola. \

Whatmore proof do you need?

Some more info.

The plane that the ebola nurse was on that went to Dallas:

---20+ nurses were on that exact same plane (conference) from Dallas back to Cleveland on monday (after ebola nurse was on it earlier), and are all currently on 21 day paid leave. Not sure if they are quarantined or not.

Having it under control and not being anything to worry about doesn't mean there won't be a few isolated cases.

And they've thus far been absolutely right.
Sure, but now were are totally unprepared for it, and it's here. Thats his point
They've been totally unprepared for it. They've lacked proper protocols (either not having one or not following it). They sent an infected patient back into the public by an awful mistake.

And we're still at what, 2 infected people?
Again, you have no idea how this disease works.

It takes nearly two weeks and up to 21 days for people who have the disease to show symptoms. How dense can you possibly be???

NOT ENOUGH TIME HAS PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LEARN TO ####### READ

Can't believe I actually agree with Stinger Ray on something- but he's 100% right.

Ghostguy, you're exactly the sort of person who makes these situations far worse. You panic and call for extreme actions, and you spread fear. Whenever people like you have gotten loud enough, it has always resulted in calamity for this country, far worse than any disease has.
