Ed Reed, Ravens Safety, to possibly retire? (1 Viewer)

Speaking of Reed, are there any neck problems for him as he had last season heading into training camp?

Preston: I'm not sure because Reed says he won't speak to the media until training camp starts. But if there are problems, he will work them out before camp. The bottom line is that if Reed believes neck problems will hinder his performance or cause a permanent injury, he'll retire. It isn't about money for Reed. He's a smart man.

Not a Ravens fan, but it would be sad to see him retire. He is probably the closest incarnation of Ronnie Lott that I've seen so far, and a ridiculously good player. Hall of Famer, in my opinion.

But I can certainly understand if he did due to health reasons...

This would be a very very sad day for me. He has been one of my favorite football players since his days at the U. IMO he is the best Safety of this generation.

well let's hope he didn't sustain a previous neck injury while he was trying to snap poor chris johnson's ankle from his leg last january..... light years after the whistle was blown :wall:

Or by snapping his head around to look at the ref on that ridiculous roughing the passer call against Suggs on Collins in October. I'm over it though :hey: I hope Reed's ok & will be able to play a few more years, but he's certainly got nothing left to prove. His play at the end of the season & into the playoffs was about as high a level as a FS can attain.

Oh, and I thought the play on Johnson's leg was dirty too.
