Edgerrin James Value going forward? (1 Viewer)

The Black Hole
This guy obviously has the talent and no threat of losing carries.. Not that old yet.. Is the O-Line that bad in Arizona to stop him from being a top tier again? Looking at his games he's struggling to get to 4YPC. Currently 3.1. I have a chance to acquire him but a little hesitant due to future. I would have to give up a top young WR in Jennings and Jordan. If he has a chance to become the guy he was the last few years I wouldn't even think twice but obviously that's not what we are currently seeing here. Chime in if you got some info..

I too would like to hear what the pool's thoughts on Edge are.

I am pretty sure you can get him for cheap - with those WR's and a rookie QB I'm not sure what to think.

Horrible O-line though.

Can Edge overcome ??

Edge is producing up to his potential right now. Injuries have taken their toll on him. Edge has lost his step. There is a reason Indy did not do much to keep him around. Edge had great numbers the last couple years because he played on the best offense in the NFL. Edge is still a tough runner.

I think the main thing is that the O-line in 'zona is atrocious! And now you're gonna have a rookie qb in there and defenses are gonna put no less than 8 or 9 guys in the box.I was thinking about trading for Edge but then I looked at his upcoming schedule and decided that there is no way he's gonna help get me in the playoffs.

My feeling has always been that James never fully recovered from his knee injury. When he came back, he didn't have the same burst. You never saw him busting big plays like he did before the injury, especially in the passing game. However, the Colts offense was such a machine that he still managed to produce, though he never again put up the monster numbers he did his first few years.

Now, he is on a team with a bad offensive line and his weaknesses are being exposed. He is no longer an elite back, and that is quite evident by watching his current play.

My thoughts have not changed on Edge at all from the preseason. Until Arz realizes that they need an Oline and the ability to stop the run to compete seriously for a play off spot, he will struggle in Arz.

I think we all knew Edge was not going to be a top tier RB, no surprise there.

Most of us drafted him because those top tier guys were gone & we chose the "safe pick" over high bust potential guys like Ronnie, Caddy, & Jordan. Nothing has changed, Edge is still putting up OK numbers & the other guys we could've had are pretty-much busts.

Edge was decent in weeks 1-3. Week 4 the Cards took a 6hr plane ride & lost 3 hours in the time change. They also faced the best run-D in the NFC. What did you expect from Edge in that game? That game was an anomaly. Leinart will be no worse than Warner & AZ will have the ball more without all the fumbles/INTs. I think the move slightly helps Edge.

No, he is not the Edge of old, but I think based on opportunity & talent alone, he's going to remain a low-end RB1, around #10. This is what I drafted him for.

Does he have a better long term then Jordan?? I loved Jordan last year in that system but I fear his catches are gone forever..

Not to be a shrew, but this is your problem here. He was great before his knee injury, and after he's just never been the same. There's a reason he's had such a terrible red zone efficiency per attempt and such bad YAC over the past years. He's a soft runner. He doesn't have many moves, and he's not that quick. He put up great numbers in Indy due to very soft boxes, and went from a situation where he'd run four yards before ever being touched to getting pounded at the line of scrimmage. Big difference.

The main problem is that ARI's line isn't athletic enough on either side to pull. They are all mammoth, and because of that, pass protection on the outside is horrible, and on run plays, they are slow to the point of attack.

Your right I am looking at him as he was in Indy with a great offense. My long term look I was wondering the chances of Arizona's offense stepping it up?? Will they always be this bad??
