In my opinion, the Giants are going no where with Eli. I know that he is very young, but he just doesn't seem to be making any good decisions. He lacks consistancy, which is huge for teams that want to go deep into the playoffs. The loss at Tenesse was utterly pathetic, but it wasnt the first game that Eli hasnt made good decisions. Because I am a Broncos fan, I see a lot of similarities of Eli in Jake. The Giants should go to Lorenzon before their season dwindles away. The Chargers are just sitting back and laughing now that they have two MVP's on their team that could have been potential Giants (Shawn Merrimen and Philip Rivers). GET ELI OUT OF THERE.

He is better than Vick though.

I don't care how bad Eli has played/plays any talk of Lorenzon (whatever his name is) is a joke. They will sink/swim with Manning.

The thing I find ironic in this whole situation is that Eli (Archie) was too good to play for the Chargers and and wanted a to play for a team with a big media center. Well he got his wish and now he's getting murdered in the press week after week while the Chargers are the toast of the NFL. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, be careful what you wish for.....

Eli is missing 4 things right now.

a) Good mechanics

b) Good decision making

c) Overall character

d) Ability to lead and inspire his teammates

Of these a) and b) should be correctable over his career.

c) and d) are where he consistently spirals downward IMHO.

The last time I checked you cannot turn an apple into an orange with extra work, practice or "abra cadabra magic".

He is better than Vick though.
who cares?!? that is nowhere near the topic.first of all, i do think the chargers are laughing all the way to the bank.2nd of all, i do think eli has been playing horrendously with mild flashes of brilliance peppered in, ever since he took the starting gig. but i think his biggest problem isn't so much his decision making as it is his grit. if you watch eli's bad throws, more often than not they are off his back foot while he's about to get hit in the mouth. good quarterbacks stay in there and take the lick, delivering the ball where it needs to be. eli recoils and ducks while he throws a candy-arm lob pass to the flat while he avoids the hit. that's just unacceptable. i think if he can solve that problem, and establish shockey early, and somehow plax gets motivated, he has a chance to at least be a serviceable quarterback. probably no better than a guy like david carr or brad johnson. at this point though, i think i'd take both those guys over eli. eli's looked real bad lately. i mean, really bad. and this is coming from a giants fan who hasn't missed a snap all year.having said that, you can't pin the loss on eli. i think plax at least had a shot at the pass he gave up on, and it's not as if the defense held tough to force a field goal at any point. but that's all beside the point.i don't think jared lorenzen is better than eli, though. lorenzen is a fat ### with zero mobility, and given the state of the left side of the o-line these days, we'll need someone with at least a little bit of elusiveness in the pocket. but this whole team is in disarray right now. coughlin has completely lost control. if he's supposed to be a disciplinarian, he's failing miserably. plaxico shouldn't sniff the field at all for the remainder of the year. that's a fact. tyree is a guy that plays his balls off, and he at least had some solid chemistry with eli back in manning's rookie year. let him be the go-to guy, since plax is obviously disinterested.i could go on all day. this loss was about the most pathetic i've seen since they pissed the playoff game against the Niners away about 5 years ago. i'm totally disgusted.

Could be worse, he could have 12 TD's and 17 INT's and them team record could be 4-7. That's the golden boy Ben Roethlisberger. Maybe he should be benched too because he is sucking far worse than Manning and he has Hines Ward among others. Eli only has a castoff of the Steelers as a WR.

There's nothing wrong with Manning other than he can't throw a spiral, isn't Peyton, is totally innacurate and looks like a big Gomer out there with no fire.

Dude is on notice and is pissing me off. In talking to FAVRE, Frank Gore and Andre Johnson in private, we are wondering if this guy has what it takes to be a part of the LOD.

Whats wrong with his overall character? I'd like you to explain that one.

The threw him into the fire and found out he's not as good as Payton. Here's a news flash, there aren't many that are as good as Payton in the history of the game. Give the kid some time and he should be a good QB, I don't think he'll last in the pressure cooker that is NY.

What makes it even funnier is how many people were sucking Eli off after the OT win against Philly earlier this year.

Yup Rivers and Merrimen looked like MVPs yesterday:Rivers: 133 passing yards, 45.2% completion, 0 TDs, 1 INT

Merriman: 0 tackles, 0 sacks... serving suspension for cheating

Not to insert any logic into the tired discussion of Manning vs. Rivers vs. Roethlenberger, but you can't just swap players for each other and swap their stats as well. Football is a team sport and players don't play and assess stats in a bubble.Put Cadillac as the primary RB on the Colts and I bet he's having a great year.

Put Tomlinson on any team, and I bet the passing game would open up pretty well for the QB.

Who is Payton?

No question about it but considering Eli has one of the best RB's in league, best TE's in the league, a solid wr corp, a decent line and a good defense it's not as if he has little to no talent around him and has been left to flounder. This is just a wild guess but I'd guess he's got better talent at the skill positions than 70% of the leagues QB's. The ones that I can think of off the top that may be equal/better are SD, Indy, Cincy, Sea and maybe St. Louis or Dallas.

Green Bay, Houston, Denver, Jax, New England, even Chicago, any team that has 2 NFL starting caliber Wr's because Tim Carter is not that. The only thing solid about the NYG WR corp is Tim Carter's brick hands.

I'm talking about skill positions in their entirety not the wr corp alone. Obviously they don't have top wideouts. None of those teams have a RB better than Tiki or a TE better than Shockey. Plax while a lazy SOB can catch the ball and Toomer was servicable.

As we documented earlier, Eli has been doing worse more recently than when the season started. Surely we can blame some of that (but not all of that, of course) on the injuries to his team. Although he started the year being bolstered by great skill positions, a solid O-line, and a top tier defense that allowed the Giants offense to be more versatile, he now has a weaken o-line, a decimated defense and a banged up supporting cast. All teams face injuries, but that doesn't mean we can't chart some of Eli's deterioration on his need to do too much at this point in his young career.Another aspect to consider, is the piss-poor play calling that has befuddlingly often left players like Barber or Shockey as mere bystanders for large portions of some games.Again, Eli is definitely playing poorly and making poor decisions on the field but the "state of the team" of the Giants overall must be considered as well.
