So I was watching the game last night, and as a Giants homer, when the Giants threw the red flag to challenge, I was yelling at the TV "what the hell are you doing? This is the most obvious call, why are you wasting a TO?"

When the said what the rule actually was, I was completely shocked. Am I the only one that didn't know the "whole body must be in front of the line" rule?

I thought he was much further past the line but I thought maybe....then when I watched Eli's reaction I asked myself if that rule would apply. Eli, I figure knows the rules inside out and backwards. His reaction made me think he knew something that most didn't....as a Giants fan I was pleased. :hifive:

Not a fan of either team, but Manning looked well over the line.

I did not know the complete verbage of the rule though.

Just because I'm sitting here with nothing to do, here's the exact wording of the rule. I didn't realize it was entire body until now.

Rule 8, Section 1, Article 1, Supplemental Notes:(3) The penalty for a forward pass beyond the line is to be enforced from the spot where the ball is released when the passer's entire body and the ball are beyond the line of scrimmage. This includes either when the passer is airborne or touching the ground.

I think the rule should be changed - a Tall QB like ELI can drag a foot and have the ball 2 or almost 3 yards beyond the LOS on release

I have never liked the way that rule is worded
