Ellis Lankster - Bills Rookie CB (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
Heard this on Howard Stern this morning, and couldn't believe it. 100 times worse than Bo Jackson's stuttering.

He's a polite young man, and it's not my intention to make fun of him. How in the world could Buffalo's PR staff send him up there?

Have to listen to this at home, but I can't imagine he's much worse than Hester... BRUTAL Had an interview on the radio last year early on, and it was painful to listen to.

Can only think they wanted to show off their 7th round rookie find at CB? Can't hear it, but I think I'm afraid too. Can it be worse than Leodis McKelvin?

Wow. I feel very bad for him having been put in that situation. Could just be public speaking which is one of biggest personal fears for a lot of Americans. He's definitely more nervous up there than on the field.

I feel bad for the guy. I have public speaking issues myself. :(

(That said, I still chuckled at the remix. I am probably going to hell anyway, so....)

You should send tape of this backpedal to the Rams RN, they could use the help in their secondary.

Come on RN, no one is judging you. You thought this would go over as a lark and it backfired.

No big deal.

I am proud of this kid for speaking at this press conference. Many people affected by disfluency avoid public speaking. Seems like a great kid.

Im a fan of internet funnies, and while I find it funny the kid has worked very hard and deserves everything he is getting. JUCO transfer to WVU and has made it in the NFL (so far).

why else would you post it then? the good fantasy info provided in his presser? :lmao: you don't have to be eloquent/intelligent to play defense, film at 11.
His speech has nothing to do with intelligence btw. I think it's pretty obvious he has a fluency disorder (is a person who stutters).
which is why i also put "eloquent".
I think it came across that you were implying intelligence and eloquence were mutually inclusive... You were probably not implying that though. However, for those who think they are, you can have a stuttering issue whether you are intelligent or not, you can also have a reading disorder, dyslexia, and still be intelligent.

Frankly, the kid should have been proud of the way he played, and the fact anyone is making fun of his speech makes me sad.

If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy... because a ton of people seem to be ignorant.

I haven't laughed like that in awhile. He doesn't sound like he has an actual speech impairment from what I know.. looks like it's just a nervous reaction

My graduate psych professor told us this: "The number one fear of an American is to speak in front of a crowd...second is death. What this tells me then, is that you'd rather be dead and in your casket then still be alive and give your eulogy."It's not easy to get up there knowing full well you will have this stuff posted everywhere.

They did a quick piece on this on The Ticket in Dallas. Someone who knew him said he stutters. It was interesting because they brought up this old QB (can't remember the guy's name), but he had a real bad stuttering problem and the only way he would not stutter was when he would sing his words (I guess this is somewhat common). Anyways, he would actually sing the snap count so as not to stutter during his pre-snap calls.

Your graduate professor was Seinfeld?

Get out - he ripped it off? Bum! I've seen like every single show, but don't remember it - wow, what a turd.

You should throw your degree away. It's tainted.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Already done, handed in my credentials, packed up my office, and traded my fantasy team away.

Seems like a humble, polite kid. Quite refreshing, actually.
I think that's precisely the reason I didn't find it funny at all......I just felt sorry for the guy being in that situation.

I don't think there is any reason to feel sorry for him. He's obviously OK getting up there and speaking, despite his stuttering. If it doesn't bother him, why should it bother anyone else?

Can he play?

Who cares if he's not slick, A whole bunch of slick talkers got cut in the last month. I'd much rather be playing with a stutter than cut and a smooth talker.

Very polite, respectful individual who just can't speak in public. I'm sure he'd be more eloquent if you talked to him one on one.

It's not just a fear of public speaking. He most likely has a speech disorder, stuttering. People who stutter will do so one on one also.

Wow, heard McKelvin on radio yesterday & had no idea what he said. And he doesn't stutter (as far as i could tell).Good for this kid to do the interview. I recall Lester Hayes having a real bad stuttering problem but worked hard to overcome it.
