Emerging RB's (1 Viewer)

So let's talk emerging RB's (starting my old thread over just broader)

Talk about RB's that are emerging due to opportunity, injury or change in schemes.  Waivers or buy low strategies

Duke Johnson is a big one.  The new OC is an Arians disciple and Duke should be on a major rebound going forward due a a high volume of passes going through the RB

For acquisitions, you are probably to late to Mike Davis but Adams from Philly and Mcguire should be on your short list.  They may not pan out but better to get them now on the cheap than wait a week and be bidding decent FAAB.

Please add comments.

I think you pretty much nailed the rbs to look for. Already have The Duke, but Davis will be at the top of my list.

Josh Adams -- Great offense; Maybe he's the big bruiser they want to land on.

Ito Smith -- ATL just ran all over one of the best run D's in football. If Coleman goes down, huge.

I’ve been looking Jamal Williams and Ty Montgomery.  I’m curious as to how Ty assimilates in Baltimore and as unsexy as Jamal is, a Jones injury would make him relevant.  GB’s fantasy playoff schedule looks as if they will be frontrunning often.

Nice idea of. Post!!  Well, I have been pursuing an RB2 replacement in my 12 team keeper ppr league since Ajayi was lost...Freeman was a wasted effort.

I tried Clement/Smallwood, traded for McCoy (oof!),  grabbed TB duo Barber/ Jones, now I have Josh Adams & Elijah McGuire.

Josh Adams look really good preseason vs vanilla cream puffs Def.  Now I admit small sample size but 5.4 ypc so far is encouraging in a high power offense.  He can handle the blocking role well enough but I think “trust” is still lacking...

McGuire was only 6th round pick and has good hands.  Staff have high regard for him. “LT” comparison was a little much IMO, but you get the point.  Crowell had 2 games with nice runs vs bottom 3 Run Def but nothing vs anybody else. Schedule is not great but not horrible either.  His pass catching skills in PPR will really make him valuable ....

Guys i noticed today.

Chubb looks to be growing into a bigger threat with the long run and some receptions.

Duke had less action but it seems clear hes a red zone threat scoring in back to back weeks from the RZ.  Looks TD dependent.

Penny might be on your waiver - back from the dead.  Not sure how this will work out for any of them - Carson, Davis or Penny.  Any thoughts from someone that watched?

Anyone I overlooked?

Philly backfield is an obvious avoid.

Seattle may be as well, even though they clearly want to run it a lot.  Carson seems like the only guy you can trust so far, and he's banged up.  You're not putting Penny or Davis in your lineup if Carson is active, and even if he's not, it feels like playing russian roulette.

I would strongly disagree on the Seattle backfield. they drafted Rashad Penny as a first round pick. That is usually done because one intends to have a workhorse back. Between a finger fracture and not being in shape at the beginning of the season as well as the production the Davis and Carson gave them. There was no need to rush Penny along but rather let him develop at his own pace. He showed last game against a very good Rams defense how he is both powerful and elusive.

it is only a matter of time before Penny takes over as lead running back.Davis is just a replacement level talent and Carson is continuously banged up. With the possibility that the Seahawks don't win this Thursday, they could potentially be eliminated from the playoff race. If that's the case I suspect they will want to give Penny and much run as possible.

given that say have the most runs per game on average as a percentage of their offense, there is plenty of work load even if he does not take over fully the role of bell cow back. I see a weekly floor of 12 to 15 touches.

Certainly possible, although I'd imagine Pete Carroll is more interested in winning games and saving his job than seeing what Rashad Penny can do.  So far that's meant Carson when healthy, and RBBC when he's not.

The shift to penny is coming. You can just sense it from watching the game yesterday. And who says their best chance of winning and getting Penny 12-15 carries don’t go hand in hand! Mike Davis drop on final drive doesn’t help his cause.

I think Penny will now get his shot even if Carson is healthy I think they split carries.

How about Elijah McGuire? He received more work this week I thought I saw?

Everyone really wants Penny to be the guy.  It looked like he was getting more touches in week 4 with Carson out. Then when Carson was back he went back to no touches in Week 5. Its entirely possible we repeat the same script.

With a short week with game on Thursday, I expect Carson not to play.  Thoughts on starting Mike Davis this week?  I don't know you can start Penny yet without some word from the team.

With that logic, isn't it safe to say you cant start Davis without some word from the team?

Pete Carroll is probably the most notorious coach in the NFL when it comes to hyping a guy all week and then giving him nothing once the game starts.

If Carroll comes out in the media all fired up about Penny, then run the other way.
