Emmit Smith promoted to ARI starting RB! (1 Viewer)

Hopefully, this will serve as a reminder to all the young tools who come in here pimping their "next, great" RB (see Foster, McGahee, L Jordan, etc.) who will run a proven veteran out of a job.   There is so much more to being a professional than mere physical skills.
I like how everybody who likes different players than you is a "tool". I think that is one of the lessons to be taken from this. Another is that even in redraft, when it comes to unstable situations betting on an RB without great talent is a bad idea, even if he seems pencilled in. There's a reason that Shipp went well behind the other "risky" backs like Duckett, Foster, Suggs, McGahee etc. in most dynasty leagues I saw.
That doesn't change the fact that Smith is a bum, which you made a quck dash to pick him up in our league, lol. I could have dropped Jamal Robertson for him, but frankly, I would rather take the chance something happens to Barlow rather than take a chance on Emmitt Smith :D
Emmitt Smith > Mike McMahon
Too bad you have to rely on the guy going for the record with the most consecutive 1,000 yard seasons in NFL history, instead of the guy who has zero. ;)

How was Shipp's situation "unstable"? Shipp looked to be on better footing than several situations. Denny Green loved him. Was on the record as saying Shipp was gonna get 1000 and 7. Now, he's been knocked back to buck private, usually a sign of non-attention to details. As I said previously, there's much more involved in being a starter in the NFL than pure talent. Ability to block, the mental ability to grasp a gameplan from week to week, etc. Those are some of the reasons it's foolish to write off the proven vets for the "young up and comer". It took the now-deified Kevan Barlow, what, three years to knock off Hearst? Every guy in a redrafter took it in the shorts on him. The same will happen to the Foster/McGahee pimps this year.Cheers! :banned: :banned: :banned:

I think this is all about getting press for the Cardinals to generate interest from the fans and hopefuly keep the Cardinals on the radar to sell tickets. Isn't that why they brought in Emmitt in the 1st place?Until I hear another explanation about Shipp doing somthing wrong that is the way I am going to interpet this. I just cannot see Emmitt having enough left in the tank to beat out Shipp.Yes Shipp is from a small school. Yes he went undrafted. Yes he may have marginal talent. But he has always had strong work ethic.I think this is more salesmanshipp (heh heh) than a motivational tactic on Greens part. I always saw Green as being a pretty transparent PR guy in Minnesota also.

Fair enough. It wasn't unstable. I shouldn't gloat. I was right on Shipp; I've been wrong on many others.
