Better football playerLike as in who would we rather go steady with or or "like" as in who do we think was the better football player?
I feel like his ypc & ypg is really pedestrian considering his line. If we were talking RBs in their prime there is a slew of them I would rather have. I guess longevity has to count for something & funny enough I have the same 7 ahead of him you do in the other thread just in a different order.BrownSandersPaytonTomlinsonDickersonSimpsonFaulkSmithThe Emmitt fans have turned into Rodney Dangerfield at this point, "Emmitt gets no respect, I tell ya."Better question now, where does Emmitt rank all time? Not even in my top 5.... more like 8th.
They do dont they? And whats funny is no one is saying Emmitt was not good, but Emmitt fans are trying to make it look like Barry sucked and was a horrible person. LOL, I think thats very telling of the fans.'finito said:Really close for me. I may lean Emmitt but it could go either way. Both all time greats. Emmitt fans seem to be a tad touchy.
this type of junk is "killing" Emmitt. It's the highlight reels hurting his memory in some people's minds. He was nowhere near as bruising a RB as Brown or as fancy with his moves as Barry.Re ypc, ypg- first off Emmitt played a little too long and...yeah so have many all-time greats, big deal. YPC- Ya gotta think about how the defenses knew exactly who was getting the ball, where they were running, and that the Boys did it anyway and were very very successful doing it. There are games those Boys played in that are surely some of the most dominating performances in the history of football. It was mind numbing efficiency and couldn't be stopped.Marshall played in his prime while Emmitt was old. Yeah that's not so comparable, but Emmitt was old then.I feel like his ypc & ypg is really pedestrian considering his line. Emmitt was a very, very good RB for a long time.
Top 5 all-time? No.
Top 10? Definately.
That's nothing to be ashamed of. I just wish his "defenders" would stop trying to make him better than he was.
I completely agree with both of these posts. Both great RB's.The poll results reflect negatively on The Shark Pool's knowledge is all I'm going to say on this one and that's putting it kindly.
When I read things like it's Marshall and it's not even close over Emmitt I'm not even going to try and debate as it's a lost cause.

I won't get into the all-time discussion, the game has changed too much for me to evaluate. My "watching" lifetime (~1988 on):LTBarryMarshallEmmittThurman ThomasHM: Curtis Martin, Tiki Barber, EdgePaytonJim BrownLT2O.J. Nothing is killing Emmittt, he was what he was, a good RB behind a great OL on a great team. The bolded has to be a joke, the Cowboys had some of the best passing weapons of all the top RBs & the best OL.this type of junk is "killing" Emmitt. It's the highlight reels hurting his memory in some people's minds. He was nowhere near as bruising a RB as Brown or as fancy with his moves as Barry.
