I have this idea for a difficult (maybe) empire fantasy league. I want to call it Empire Island and here are the basic premise...
We start out with 24 teams. After every season, the worst team in the league is kicked off the island, reducing our number of teams by 1 each year. (Years that we would have odd number teams, each team would have 1-2 weeks where they play 2 games that week. Yearly schedules would be worked ahead of time and available to anybody who'd asked for a copy.)
Being an empire league, of course if someone wins the fantasy bowl 2 years in a row, they win the jackpot. We'd either start over again with 24 teams or just end the league.
Entry fees would start out at $15 for the first year and increase by $5 each year.
Some issues would have to be worked out as a league, but here is what I am leaning towards.
Have only 1 division
Starting line ups: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 FLEX (RB, WR, or TE), 1 K, 1 DEF
In the beginning of the the league history, roster sizes would be 18 players, taxi squad would be 10 players (these numbers would increase as time goes on).
It would be a Best Ball format (but this issue wouldn't be set in stone)
Drafts, after the 1st year, would be rookies and veteran players (the eliminated team's players would go into the pool of players to pick from)
Dealing with trades might get tricky especially since someone would get kicked off the island. (My initial commissioner gut reaction for a solution would be to not allow the bottom third of the league to make trades. Or wait until the season is done and allow trades with draft picks happen. But as a league, as a whole, we'd come up with a solution together)
Play off format would be that the top 50% of the league make the fantasy bowl play-offs with the fantasy bowl in week 16.
Week 17 would be 'Non-Sense' Bowls....Dollar Menu Bowl, Buddy Bowl, Dog Bowl, Toilet Bowl, etc...
What would are your thoughts? Would you sign up to play? Let me know what you think
Thanks
