As reported in the blogger Eric Shelton is being considered for short yardage, goal-line duties for the Panthers.
Any Carolina homers have any info on this? If he is the goal-line vulture in Carolina, would he be good for 8-10 TDs, maybe more?
For a big guy who has an upright running style, does anyone else think that this would be his least productive role? I know he scored a ton of TD's at Louisville, but what is his track record in short yardage?Has he changed his running style enough now that this is viable? As for Eric Shelton, the Panthers' 2005 second-round pick who spent his rookie season on injured reserve, Henning said the team still hopes he can fit into the rotation as a short-yardage, goal-line back. He said Shelton also could be used to pound the ball at the defense at the end of games.
