i would love to tell you details but i can only tell you what i've seen/heard..............i've been looking everywhere for info, and nothing......just says on teh bottom corner of the tv. "McNair Asked To Leave Tenn Facility"

while searching for this story, i did read that 2 days ago he said he's not interested in mentoring any younger QB when the owner said that he wants to draft a QB.....not really sending home material unless it escalated.....but that's pure speculation

Agent: Titans want McNair's contract status resolved

Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was asked to leave the team's training facility when he reported Monday for offseason workouts, his agent and team sources confirmed to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

McNair was told by a team trainer that he would not be allowed to work out until his contract situation is resolved, according to James "Bus" Cook, who represents McNair.

"Steve was told that until he got his contract straightened out, he wasn't welcome at the facility," said Cook. "Heck, he's got his contract already straightened out and now he's trying to fulfill it by reporting for the offseason."

Cook said there had been no warning of the team's position. Titans sources said it was a decision was made by owner Bud Adams, who apparently fears that an offseason injury would make him liable for McNair's current contract.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher, who was in Los Angeles observing USC quarterback Matt Leinart in a private workout Monday, declined to elaborate but said, "Things got blown out of proportion. ... We'll get it straightened out."

McNair is scheduled to make $10 million in 2006, including a $1 million team penalty because the Titans declined to exercise a three-year option. His salary cap charge is almost $24 million, and the team is trying to get McNair to restructure his deal. It has been speculated that the team could release the quarterback if there is not a new contract in place in the near future.

"The reason his cap number is $24 million is because they kept asking him to restructure every year to create space," Cook said. "This guy has done everything for the team, and he has two or three really good years left. Now, they treat him like this."

I understand he left the facility like a warrior too.
Yup. Now you see why he has that "WARRIOR"moniker while manning is just a sissy; He's won so much more than Manning. What a joke...the only thing this guy's ever legitimately won has been Merely Viable Prop.

ESPN also reported that Kevin Dyson tried to get into the facility in order to give McNair a ride home, but he was stopped by security 1 yard shy of the entrance.

...by Tyrone Calico's autographed trainer's table?

IMO, classless move by the Titans. Even if they have no intention of keeping him at current salary, to alienate in any way a guy who has been a great face for the franchise is bush league.

Bud Adams making a bush league move?!? I am shocked...SHOCKED I tell you.

This makes me curious. If you had to pick just one "face of the Oilers/Titans franchise".... who would it most likely be?- Steve McNair

- Warren Moon

- Earl Campbell

- Mike Munchak

- Bruce Matthews

- Ken Houston

- Cody Carlson ( :P )

Jeff Guppy Fisher or Eddie George if you're talking 'both teams'.If you're talking Oilers, it's got to be Earl Campbell or Bum Phillips.

Said to myself "D'OH..... forgot Eddie" about 2 seconds after I clicked "add reply." :wall:

As for Fisher, I was talking mainly from a player aspect.

AFC Championship game.

At the end of the day, this will all be a miscommunication between the chain of command and that poor team trainer. P.S. Over/Under on that amount of days that guy has at his current position is 2.

I heard Collins is considerring retirement(NFL Network IIRC) so maybe they want to know where McNair's at since the Ravens are now looking for a QB and that's been an oof and on rumor

Nothing...AFC... that's it...but it was all because of his "heart", not his team...whereas the Colts win despite of Manning, the "Tin Man". Sarcasm, man, I'm a Colts Fan. Mcnair has one good year, misses half of every year, but some how has "heart" and is a "warrior". Go figure. Not that I can defend Peyton's recent performances' in Big playoff games...just saying others get a free pass.

Peyton is a man when it comes to injuries, no doubt. Doesn't take away from the pain McNair has played through (and played well with)

We have a winnah! One of the funniest comments I have EVAH read.

McNair has done some good thing for Tennessee but with all of the injuries he has had, how could any organization think he will ever be able to start and be effective again?

McNair is one of those guys who has crossed the line from "wow, he's tough, he plays through so many injuries" to "wow, he plays through his injuries, but why is he injured all the time in the first place?"

By comparing him to Kyle Boller.

Unbelievalbe what I read sometimes on this board

The Titans have no one to blame but themselves for the 24 million cap. Go ahead and cut him because the Ravens are waiting with open arms to take him on and this would be a great thing for Mcnair. Better OL, receiving crew and RB's to work with. And the Titans still eat more than 15 million of that cap anyways. Restructure again so next year we eat alot. Screw them and terrible move by an organization that could use a great mentor for there #3 pick and have a rival in the Ravens waiting for McNair. Dumb as a stump move IMO.

If the cap number really is 24 million, they'd be insane to not wait to june 1 if they're planning on cutting McNair. That would leave them about a 7 million hit each year, or in other words they'd save 17 million against the cap this year.
