ESPN draft experts agree on Bears' first-round selection (1 Viewer)

I don't understand this story. Per the Bears' website...

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – In their latest mock drafts released Thursday, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay both predict that the Bears will select Maryland wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey with the 18th pick in the first round.

“Heyward-Bey’s awesome size-speed ratio should win out here and give the Bears the kind of wideout they need to open up the passing game,” Kiper writes.

“The Bears need a receiver capable of stretching the field vertically,” McShay writes. “Heyward-Bey’s combine-best 40 time (4.30 seconds) is all you need to know right here.”

The five players that Kiper projects will be chosen before the Bears with picks 13-17 are Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith (Redskins), Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno (Saints), USC linebacker Brian Cushing (Texans), Ohio State cornerback Malcolm Jenkins (Chargers) and Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin (Jets).

The five players that McShay predicts will be selected immediately before the Bears are Mississippi offensive tackle Michael Oher (Redskins), Jenkins (Saints), Tennessee defensive end Robert Ayers (Texans), USC linebacker Ray Maualuga (Chargers) and USC quarterback Mark Sanchez (Jets).
Why would they even post this? Because its true, or as a smokescreen?

this couldn't be more wrong.

We've seen MUCH, MUCH more bizarre things happen in the NFL draft.I'm not sure how many times it's going to take for people to realize that many teams:

A) See their needs differently than your or I do.

B) Are willing to pass over a need to get a player they feel is the best out there.

C) Often rank which players they see as the best out there FAR differently than you or I do.

Not to hijack the thread, but as a long time Saints fan, I've given up trying to guess what they are going to do in the draft... especially when it comes to the RB position. I didn't think they'd take McAllister when they already had Ricky. I didn't think they'd take Bush (and hoped that they wouldn't) when they already had McAllister. Both picks have worked out well for them.As it stands now, they have only Bush and Thomas. Unfortunately, as much as I and a lot of other fans like Thomas, they don't seem sold that Thomas can carry the load and may very well take Knowshon in the first round.

They could use some wr's but it seems to me this team has much greater needs to fill...
I would rather see the Bears address the lines, but wr is a huge need as well. The d ends are not blowing me away and the o-line might be taken care of before the draft. I saw they were interested in Kevin Schaffer or Marvel Smith to replace the retired Tait. Bey wouldnt be surprising pick at all, or a bad one.

I don't think DHB will be there at 18. As much as Al Davis loves speed, he will be a Raider at #7. Crazy Al doesn't care if it's too high for DHB---his speed is too much of an aphrodisiac to pass on!!
