ESPN League Commishes (1 Viewer)

Does ESPN allow you the following options?

  • Sunday waivers run at 12 or 12:30 instead of 11AM.
  • Use fractional points.
  • 6th playoff seed decided by total season points instead of record (or can you change playoff teams/brackets manually after the regular season ends).

The waiver wire can be run on any day between 11 AM EST and 11 PM EST.

Fractional scoring is an option.

You can manually change playoff teams to the best of my knowledge but since the ability to do this would only show up after the playoff teams have been seeded, I can't comment on this with certainty.

I can confirm that you can manipulate playoff teams and seeding as needed....

There is fractional scoring, but you have to define it yourself meaning if you want 1 point for 25 passing yards you have to set 1 passing yard = .04 points.

Their gamecast and scores also round to the 1st decimal point and not the 2nd even though fractional scoring goes to the 2nd decimal. So if your score is 92.12 it will show as 92.1. You don't lose out in those .02 points you just can't see them.

Thanks you guys. Going to make some suggestions for next year which the commish will immediately shoot down, just curious to see if he blames ESPN for lacking the functionality.

Next question. Our league settings page says the tiebreaker for playoff seeding is divisional record. What if after next week two teams are tied in overall record, tied in division record and split their head to head matchups? Is the next tiebreaker overall points for the year?

you set the tiebreakers yourself...at least in our league we did.

we also run waivers whenever we want. ours is 10PM wednesday night so that teams can have their lineups set with games every week on thursday.

I wasn't aware you could do this? I mean, set a specific time? The most specific thing I see is being able to set the amount of waiver days...but I didn't see a specific time option?

You can only process waiver wires at certain times though (on the hour). I do not like this since games start at 12 pm CST, so we have to end our waiver wire at 11 am CST each day in order to have time to make roster moves after pickups are processed. It's dumb of ESPN to not allow a custom time, for example, 11:45 am. But yes, you can choose any day (mulitple days is what we do) and any hour of each day. But the hour is set the same for each day. So we run ours every day Wednesday - Sunday at 11 am.

ESPN offers a little customization for this but not to the degree where you might find it useful. If you choose Head to Head as your tie breaker, then the following is the further tie breakers (can't change the order)

1. Total Pts For

2. Intra Division Record

3. Total Pts Against

If you choose Intra Divison Record as your tie breaker, then the following gets used after that (again, can't change the order):

1. Head to Head record

2. Total Pts For

3. Total Pts Against

Where is the option to set any hour of the day for waivers to run? I've never seen this option when setting up my league in the preseason.

League Settings -> Transactions and Keepers -> Edit -> Waiver Process Days and Times (may have to use Free Agent Auction as your waiver type, so maybe that is why you don't see it if you aren't using that type?)

Awesome, so I'm in no matter what. Amazing that I started out blowing everyone away and was the points leader for 11 weeks, and now I'm getting into the playoffs by a #### hair.

Thank you, junky! That has to be the case, that I'm not using Free Agent Auction. I am only using the 'Waivers' option. I was going crazy not being able to see this, and now that I can't change it since the season is underway, I wasn't able to poke around like I would be able to in the offseason. I will have to look into this more before next season anyway because my league is switching from a simple waiver order to blind bid waivers, so this will be a big deal for me next season. Thank you for pointing this out so clearly!
