ESPN League IDP Scoring Flaw? (1 Viewer)

Our IDP league rewards points for defensive fumble recoveries. On other servers (ie: Yahoo), an offensive player would not get fumble recovery points unless it involved a turnover (ie: a defensive interception followed by that defender fumbling and turning the ball over to an offensive player).

On ESPN this isn't the case. It is awarding fumble recovery points to offensive players without turnovers being involved. Derek Anderson had one, Brett Favre had one, Greg Jennings, etc. This flaw is affecting match-up outcomes from last week and owners are angry.

My question is, has anyone encountered this problem or found a way to fix it? I have not found anything in the league scoring settings that would remedy this, and considering we reward 3 points for fumble recoveries, this could pose to be a major problem for us this season. I considered eliminating the fumble recovery stat altogether next year, but that doesn't help us now.

I really enjoy the ESPN league format/interface and would like to continue using it, but if this cannot be fixed we may need to migrate elsewhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i am in an IDP ESPN league and checked out the advanced box scores, and yeppers... your right all those players got credit for a fumble recovery...i brought it up to our league manager to check out... i might pickup Andrew Walters and let him ride my bench until he starts again... that guy is fansasy gold in this setup... averaging 4 fumble recoveries a game!!! :goodposting:BAM

Kurt Warner should be considered the #1 QB in this format now.
With Andrew Walters not starting, i agree (though Warner has pretty good ball security vs the JNiners last week... we have a weak pass rush though, so it may not be a typical performance by Warner...)Walter led the league during his starting campaign (2006) led the league with 13 fumble recoveries of his own accord...Vey NIICE!! :goodposting: BAM

Can you not change the scoring parameters after the season has started? If you're locked into keeping certain stat categories, maybe you could just change the points awarded for fumbles recovered to 0.

The parameters can be changed, but fumble recovery points is something we'd like to reward as a defensive stat, not eliminate due to a scoring flaw. For anyone in an ESPN IDP league I called their customer support and there is nothing that can immediately be done to remedy the issue aside from manually adjusting/deducting a fantasy team's points scored for offensive recoveries. I'm honestly shocked this hasn't been brought up to them before and I'm relatively disappointed.

We just eventually scrapped fumble recoveries in my yahoo league; we never could figure out a way around it. Another possible problem might be if a league gives points for tackles -- I've seen leagues where QBs, RBs and WRs get points for makiing a tackle after they threw an INT/fumbled the ball away. That's just not right.

We've had this issue for several years and ESPN won't/can't do anything about it (I've asked several times). We just make a scoring correction on the game. It sucks, but not a big deal (for us).

Agreed with Andrew74; ESPN at the moment, lacks the ability to score this category as intended. As commish, I decided to pull the stat category from our league this season as I got tired of adjusting scores every week.

Thanks for the info. To the Yahoo league owner, I'm in a couple Yahoo IDP leagues and they have it right, offensive fumble recoveries aren't scored if there is no turnover involved.
