ESPN Love for Favre (1 Viewer)

The guy who wrote that should know that in the broadcasting booth, Gruden has no professionalism. He's a bigger ### kisser than THeismann was. He's absolutely unbearable to listen to. How about this gem the other night: "Lovie Smith is doing a great job of coaching effort." WHat? But that's par for the course for Captain Compliment.

Funny pics in that post.

Weird thing for me is Favre-Love was what bugged me the most about him his entire career. Now that everybody hates Favre and Favre-Love, I find him almost sympathetic. That's bizarre, because he doesn't deserve it. I said almost.

Ummm, Lovie coached the 8.5 point underdog Bears (who have nothing to play for) to beat their division rivals (who had a lot to play for).

I thought Gruden was a good color guy to have in the booth, but after Mondays game and his incessant puking over Favre, man was I wrong.

It was sickening.

I really, really like Gruden. But Monday night I thought he was awful. Jaws and Tirico were just as bad with the favre love. It was non stop and annoying. I know the guy has been great, but it was ridiculous Monday night.

Agreed 100%

What was worse than the Gruden/Jaws/Tirico Favre love was a comment from Trent Dilfer I heard on Tuesday morning's SportsCenter. I'm paraphrasing but he was discussing how great Favre is and blah blah blah, but then he says when describing Favre "the guy with the greatest feel for the game who's ever played the game." I had to do a double take. A better feel for the game than Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, etc? Maybe the greatest feel for ill-advised interceptions, but Dilfer just slobbering all over Favre's supposed "understanding" of the game was just another example of how much ESPN loves them some Favre. Can't blame them, he's one of their main meal tickets in terms of content (along with Tiger, LeBron, and a few others)

I thought the same damn thing but wasn't going to mention it on here. It was unreal

Its not just Favre...he loves every single player out there.
This. Later in the game they were doing the same thing about Cutler's ability to throw accurately on the move. They even commented on how great a job the Bears were doing on defense...even as a Bears fan I had to laugh.

I wonder if the powers that be over at ESPN (or BSPN as some call it) ever talk to these guys and tell them to cool it a little bit. As mentioned, Gruden and (to a lesser extent) Jaws, do this every week with whichever star players are playing that week, though with Favre it's on a whole other level. They would be really good if they could just tone down the praise a couple notches. Compliment a good play, yes. But these guys don't walk on water. They're just football players. I guess to them football is religion and the best players are their gods. But I'm tired at having to hit the mute button on the time, lest I become ill.

I find myself pining for the days of Howard Cosell. :blackdot:

It may be simpler than that. Some of them may praise the hell out of 'name' players because they're too lazy to know anything about the other players on both teams. You know, the players making 90% of the plays in every game, the ones who seldom if ever get mentioned.
