Ever have trouble trading when your 6-0? (1 Viewer)

Early in the season, I had no shortage of potential trade partners. Even made a couple of trades. My team has done well. Better than I could have expected to tell the truth.

Now, I try to respond to trade bait messages, and it's always like they all run the other way. I am now the evil empire.

Oh well, I guess I shouldn't try to trade my winning lotto ticket.

Just wondering if this is a typical response.

TIA

I`m also 6-0, and find that to be true also. Teams offering other teams trades, but none my way. some trades I have offered that would help out both teams or even help the other team out even more, get declined because others tell them, "you can`t do that trade, you`ll really set them up." or "that team will be stacked", rather than trying to better their own team.

You're the guy that was considering starting Keenan Burton over D Brown or Manningham this week, right?Interesting...

I am 6-0 and can only trade with one person which is a good friend of mine which sucks cause he is all out of any players I would want.

Everytime I mention trading with someone they give me the excuse will you are winning why would you want to change your team and why would we want to help you out.

But I dont believe your team is perfect there is always room for improvement.

But I think most of the reasons that trades don't happen in my league and most for that matter is people over value there players.

I will give you an example I offered to trade either Sims-Walker or Steve Smith for Larry Johnson and was told that the only person he would take would be Jones-Drew or Peterson.

Come on were talking about Larry Johnson what value has he had all year the reason I want him is that I am optomistic.

But given that we are 6-0 we should be thankful and not worry about it. If they want to keep there losing teams let them it will be that much bitter sweet when you beat them outright.

in redraft yes.

In dynasty leagues, trading while you're 6-0 isn't all that difficult if you make offers that make sense for the other team too. Or at least are willing to negotiate in good faith.

yahoo public league :goodposting:

I'm getting offers but it's usually a stud the week after his bye or the offering is a bye player. Would move DWill but got 2 offers this week and he'll probably blow up against Buffalo. Both offers involved players on a bye the next 2 weeks. Sorry but maybe next week....

I'm not sure this makes sense. At 6-0, it shouldn't be a problem to take a one week bye hit if it makes your team better for the stretch and/or playoffs.

I agree with this. You got to be looking come playoff time and not one week. If your able to get a great deal done because they need a player in must win situations than you got to take advantage of it. Good deep teams usually can take advantage of this. One other issue and I run into this all the time, is your only after studs and most times offering up 3 good players for a stud. Can you blame anyone for not wanting to trade these type of players. Most teams 6-0 are in this mode while a team 0-6 might be into future mode or has many holes to fill.

Not only do I agree with the above but bye week rationale does bring up one angle you can employ as a 6-0 team to get action from others.Find a deal that benefits you long-term and deduce whether you face that player's owner on their bye week.If you're up against Schaub's owner on Week 10, make a play for him and give your opponent a stud or two in exchange that won't be on their bye.

I've seen this for years (12-1 last year, 5-1 so far this year). I guess everyone in the league assumes that, if I want one of their players, that player must be too good to give up - even if they are underperforming bench warmers that I am hoping for a turn-around in later weeks.

This is the advantage of playing with others who think they know what they're doing. In my work leagues, people figure out fairly quickly who knows more than others and those with less confidence become less inclined to trade with the owners they think know more. In others, people aren't as worried about "if he wants my player, my player must be ready to roll..." they know who they like and aren't worried about your opinion.
