Ex-Colts RB Zurlon Tipton was killed in an accidental shooting on Tuesday.
Horrifying. Tipton was only 26. According to FOX Detroit, Tipton was having his car serviced when he "went to take a duffel bag out of the trunk of his vehicle, and one of the two guns inside the bag reportedly went off." Tipton was shot in the stomach, later dying at the hospital. A 2014 UDFA, Tipton made 16 appearances for the Colts over the past two seasons, getting the ball 26 times.

Sounds fishy.

Guns don't shoot themselves.

I suppose he could have been dumb enough to have a gun with a round in the chamber, a modified hair trigger, AND no safety sitting in a bag.

ya its odd

is it possible it was very hot in the trunk and cooked off? or was possibly chambered and no safety on, and the hammer got caught on something in the bag?

Darwin Award Finalist 2016.

It would of been a tragedy if it was an innocent person killed by his deadly recklessness.

If there is a round chambered and the safety was off (or if there is no safety like on a Glock) then it is entirely possible for the gun to go off. The article said it was in a duffel bag so if there was a bunch of other stuff in there something could have easily gotten inside the trigger guard to apply enough force to discharge a round.

Easily?  No.

...but it is a possibility, which is why I typed that third sentence.  Still unlikely unless it was chambered, no safety, AND had a hair trigger.

Methinks it's far more likely that he was playing around with it and shot himself; especially after reading Porkchop's post.

Hah - entirely plausible as well.
