Examples of Tracking Sheets or Templates (1 Viewer)

Being fairly new to DFS, I have never kept track of any of my games, stats, etc. I am not really what you would call a numbers guy, but I may at least try to learn how to use Excel if it will help me in the long run.

I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some examples/guidance on how to set up something or even give me a blank template that I could use.

It seems like these templates are pretty important to the regular DFS player, but I'm just clueless when it comes to setting them up ..........any help would be appreciated!

You can download the player salaries from your site of choice. On FD it is within the screen that allows you to build a line-up

Download CSV link

Thanks WhoDat, at the risk of sounding like a total idiot, how does one go about using the salaries? I assume I use the salaries along with the projections to get that "important number". Is that what Excel is used for? Once again, never used Excel.

By the way WhoDat, thank you so much for your very honest and informative posts in this forum. I really feel like you are not holding back at all, and that is refreshing. HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE POSTERS I LOOK TO FOR ANSWERS AND INFORMATIVE READING. My kind of writing style, short and to the point! Thanks

Ok, this might be a better plan for me, given my lack of great math or number skills.

Since FBG has the "Interactive Value Chart" already and it looks like they did all the heavy lifting with the numbers already, maybe that is the way I should go in the beginning. I think it will save a lot of time on my part.

I guess the only variable would be who's projections the chart is using. Still playing around with the interactive value chart, but like what I see.

It will be loaded with projections by me, David Dodds, and Sigmund Bloom. You can also use the average of the three sets of projections.

A few possibilities that I may add during the season include the ability to give different weights to the projections (perhaps by position, so you could use 30% Tremblay, 50% Dodds, and 20% Bloom at QB, but 25% Tremblay, 45% Dodds, and 30% Bloom at RB, etc.). And also the ability to alter any of the projections manually, so if you think Bloom is an outlier with his Vincent Jackson projection and you want to adjust it down from 14.1 points to 12.8 points -- just double-click on the 14.1 and type "12.8".

I'm not certain I'll actually implement either of those ideas, but they're on my list of things to consider doing.

(If last year is any indication, the value charts will be pretty different in week 16 from what they look like in week 1. I'm pretty much always tinkering.)

These charts are very, very helpful. You have the ability to exclude a player from calculations if you think the FBG have him overvalued, which I liked a ton -- there are certain players I will never roster and being able to exclude them is handy. I didn't use them to create my rosters, but I would think they were pretty good for that purpose. I don't have any data on the performance of their "optimal" lineup each week.

My process was that I would create my rosters first, then see if the FBG "liked" them. If we were off by any significance, I would spend some time trying to figure out whether that discrepancy came from and, if I thought it appropriate, make changes accordingly.

The Interactive Value Chart on FBG ... worth the subscription. For someone brand new and admitting a lack of wizard skills with all things numeric and Excel I would highly encourage you to give that tool a test drive. Tennessee-ATO had a good point too. Get your own rough idea of who you like and why you like them ...

Download the updated salaries

Vegas Game Total

Player's Salary against what their match-up is. Think team defense vs team offense (high-level) and, then, individual CB versus WR (in the dirt)

Rough list of players for cash games

And so on, etc ...

Then, leverage that Value Chart

Essentially, you are outsourcing, out-tasking, subcontracting, calling in the roofers .... whatever you want to call it ... the heavy lifting stats component of this line-up building process in the area(s) you realize you need some help

In the realm of keeping it really simple ... this is it and you will win the money spent to use the tool back within a week

Thank so much everyone of your thoughts. My eyes are red today form messing around with the value chart until the wee hours of the morning!

Fantastic Tool!

This is going to be an extremely dumb question, but where is the interactive value chart found on FBG?

It'll be easier to find once the season starts. It'll be on the weekly content page (as well as the DFS page and the individual pages for FanDuel, DraftKings, etc.).

Yep.
I guess it's time for my first post to these forums since late 2011!

If you think the Interactive Value Chart is good, just wait 'til you see the Daily Crusher app! I may never use the Interactive Value Chart again.
I really this is out before season start. Apple can be complete #######s when it comes to reviewing and approving apps.

It's out. We haven't started publicizing it yet, but you should be able to find it in the iTunes store.

Same price for subscribers as for everyone else. I don't think Apple allows discriminatory pricing.

The first couple weeks will be free. After that, I think it will be $1/week to unlock projections for each site, but I'm not completely sure on the pricing.

Is there going to be an Android app? I was thinking there was, but I know google play made you take down the magazine because of reference to draftkings.

Yes, but it will likely have to be downloaded from the FBG homepage because of Google's strict definition of gambling...it will be released shortly after the Apple version, if everything runs smoothly.
