Explain PayPal (1 Viewer)

So how much do you think you spend in extra gas driving all over your city compared to the minimal or non existent fees you would pay by having a checking account, online banking, etc?

He doesn't drive. The auto and oil companies are charging hidden fees for the right to do so. He rides a bicycle everywhere. Just wait until he finds out Schwinn and Huffy are in cahoots!

Tdavi118-

Please explain in detail how you think a bank works and how they make money. This is important for my amusement

TIA

Too many SA's in here. I'm done. Just wanted to get in a fantasy football league,.....later. It's a shame to have to sit and type about sitting in a smart chair vs a dumb chair, adding that just when the ffa couldn't get any weirder etc, etc, I'm glad I don't have to meet any of you in person,...Goodbye.
You can't leave... the plants will die!

You weren't scheduled to leave for another hour. I'm afraid we're going to have to charge you a 25.00 Early Departure Fee.

TDavi... WAIT!

I must have missed something, but does this dude get his money orders for free?
No but the post office doens't have double-secret hidden fees that most certainly exist despite somehow never causing your balance to go down

Anyway,... back to the original question, if I put the money in my savings, then can I contact paypal and give them my account # and get into this Fantasy football league that tickles my fancy? And yes, I know the bank will charge me a long time no see charge.
I once lost a chess game to this guy.  :lmao: :bag: This thread is doing serious damage to my psyche.

This has to be  because there is no way he can sompletely ignore the fact that there is ABSOLUTE proof that fee-free checking exists.
You guys are going to have to look at the fine print at the bottom of your checking account contract from your respective bank. There ain't no way you can tell me that banks aren't charging you for using their checking accounts. That's what they are in the business for! If you walk out to your mailbox, you'll probably find a bill from your bank. I'm not going to be naive enough to think banks are offering free checking accounts,... there ain't no way. It's business, and they want to make money. There ain't nothing free in this world, son. Also, if I walked into my local car lot and wanted to buy a Mustang GT, I would get the better deal than you would by walking into that same car lot, wanting the same car if you walked in with your check book or credit card. No doubt about it.
Serious question for those (or at least the OP) without credit cards/bank cards or checking accounts --- how do you get by without a credit card and/or checking account (with a debit credit card)? How do you buy airline tickets? Rent a car? Check into a hotel? Or do you just find it easier to never leave your house? Ever.Do you pull into the service station and walk inside and actually say, "Give me $20 on pump 3" like we used to do back in 1979?Security First Network Bank invented Internet banking in 1995 --- nearly 12 years ago. In the last 12 years, you've never purchased anything online? Really? You still get in your car and go pay full retail price (+tax) for everything? Without the advantage of price shopping via the Internet and a world of vendors outside of your city limits?Once a month, when all the bills come in, are you telling me that you go down to the local Circle K or 7-11 store and buy 5 or 6 different Money Orders to pay your bills? You do pay your bills, don't you?_________These are serious questions, and not meant to ridicule the OP. Just trying to press the point that his "disbelief" in credit cards and checks is really depriving him of a world of wonderful conveniences, options, and savings.
I've been on an airplane twice. at the time, the company that I worked for paid my round trip airfare as a bonus. I don't need to buy an airline ticket...ever. When we take vacation, we drive. Yes I pump my gas and simply walk to the cashier and pay. We pay cash at any hotel, money talks, bs walks. Cash is much better than checks or credit cards because you don't have to pay unnecessary charges. paying retail price for everything?,... groceries, what else is there? you'll find that you can get better deals with cash on hand rather than breaking out the ole checkbook or cc. Are you telling me you can get a better deal on something simply by having a checking account? Don't give me that BS. Am I missing out on the luxury of conveniences, options, and savings?, I think not. I'm making it just fine and dandy. As for bills, I drive to the local Electric co., the water company and my local sevice provider for TV, internet, and phone, I pay cash. Why are you jumping my ### for????????
Actually, retailers are required to charge the same price whether the consumer pays with cash or credit. It is part of the retailers agreement with the credit card company. The retailer pays the fees and passes them on them on the consumers. All consumers, regardless of how you pay.
I know you're right about that requirement, but they don't all abide by it. Try offering cash for a big ticket item to a local store and see what happens. They do it every time.

It should be the primary option, really.

I don't believe in ckecks or credit cards
I am absolutey in dismay about a comment like this. You don't "believe" in checks or credit cards? It's one thing not to believe in stuff that doesn't exist (a reasonable Liberal), but quite another to not believe in stuff that is real and common place. You may not feel comfortable with writing checks or using credit cards --- but that is no basis for disbelief.

(yeah, snog me for being too literall --- unless of course he really doesn't believe in them).
Banks charge overdraft charges, withdrawal charges, quarterly charges, yearly charges, they'll even charge you for walking through the front door. Credit cards charge interest, charge you for even having a cc. I'd rather have cash and not need it than need cash and not have it. You can go ahead and pay for your checks every time you turn around,... but not me. I'm a big fan of the money order. Cost of a money order is thousands times better than a bank charging the pee out of you.All I want to do is enter a Fantasy football league where the only way to enter is paypal. I'm not going to argue about why you love to pay bank fees and I don't. I also had $300 dollars in a bank account when I was a kid, the bank changed names years after, and when I went to see about my account(years later), it was GONE!. I DON'T believe in checks or credit cards,...it's a money scam.PERIOD.
In my day we only played one game, stare at the sun, and we LIKED it! And back then I wore an onion on my belt, it was the style at the time...
;)
