Family Fun Day Trips Near/Around Philly (1 Viewer)

Here's another interesting one the wife and I went to a few years ago in Buck's County

Ringing Rocks Park - This is a wiki page, but you can find other pages when you google.

Bascially, it's just a park in the woods with some trails and such - but the draw are the ringing rocks. There's this big boulder field...maybe 5-6 acres worth. It's so random as it just looks like a giant pile of bolders fell and was spread out in the woods. I don't think they fully know WHY they are where they are, as it's literally boulders, then woods. So anyway, if you hit one of the rocks with a hammer or another rock, it makes a ringing sound, kind of like a bell. It's very odd.

I think it's worth it because kids love to hit the rocks and listen to them ring, and it's fun to just walk around on the giant pile of bolders. I was terrified that there'd be a snake or something there as it looked like a great place for them, but we never saw any. There's some cool waterfalls and stuff too.

I would recommend the Morris Arboretum in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia. Went there a lot as a kid. Fun place to just walk around. Cool Scenery. At the top of Chestnut Hill is McNally's Tavern Which serves lunch and dinner.

They are famous for a sandwich called "The Schmitter". Chestnut Hill has a scenic retail area of shops to check out as well.

Spent many a Sunday in New Hope as a kid. Such an interesting cross-section of people back then. Was just talking about this place last night.

There used to be a cool little head shop right next to the New Hope-Lambertville bridge iirc. I remember making the trip there a few times when someone needed some paraphernalia. And I think there was a small cd/record store in the basement(?) of one of the buildings. Plus John & Peter's was good spot for some local shows. Saw Living Earth (Dead cover band) a couple of times. Small as hell.
