Fanball Is Terrible - STAY AWAY! (1 Viewer)

My main league was with Fanball 2003/2004 and the free AOL equivalent 2005/2006/2007. It's funny, because the free AOL version of fanball was more stable than the pay Fanball. I looked at going back to Fanball in 2008 when AOL switched to fleaflicker, but after cruising the forums and seeing that the new year rollout was delayed and delayed and delayed again AND they were under new ownership, I knew it was the same crap as always. We've been with MFL the last couple years, which is functional but really could use a complete interface redesign. I like cbssportline the best, but it's too damn expensive.

I'll just chime in here and log my complaints with fanball also. We've been there for quite awhile, and this year has been horrible. Pretty much the same problems as everyone else.

We most likely won't be back next year.

ETA: :lmao: I just went to our Fanball site to look at Free Agents. Turns out I can't sort players by their stats, the only way to view them is alphabetical. Ridiculous.
As much as I hate Fanball, I can do this just fine

Just curious about how all of this has turned out for those still on Fanball. Did they get all the massive problems corrected?

No. You still can not set your lineups weeks ahead of time. Only for that week. Also I am still processing blind bids manually because there are always errors when done automatically. They tell me the bidding problem is fixed.

Things have settled down since their avalanche of problems in the preseason and early September. As commish, I started a thread on our league homepage named "Official Fanball Sucks Thread" meant to elicit comments from league owners about moving to MFL next year. Early in the season, nearly all comments were in favor of the move. But lately a couple of owners have expressed an interest to stay. Those in favor of staying cited familiarity (this is year 6 on Fanball), league history, ease of use, and some of the data views.

My homey league was on Fanball for 6 straight years. While we lost all of the league's history, we couldn't be happier with MFL. The site, it's software and customer service are unbeatable. There is not one thing I miss about Fanball.

This is the sweet spot for Fanball. Enough leagues have left and enough owners no longer check the site that it actually runs ok now. Next August/September it will go right back to sucking.

Live scoring is still horrible, you can sit there and watch stats appear and disappear, moving scores dozens of points at a time.

Fanball is the odd website that has actually gotten worse over the years. I didn't think that was possible on any website. I could see if it plateaud and mfl, sportsline, yahoo etc. got as good or better, but to actually decline for no apparent reason? Strange.

We are switching next year as well. The only true loss will be the league history (any leagues out there that can import old stats???).

I left AFTER week 1, and glad I did. Sportsline isn't cheap, but for $5 more per owner, it's SO worth it. What's being described in this thread that's still going on w/ Fanball is simply absurd.

Fanball is still having issues, as this is how they had the scoring this week in game for Frank Gore:

RB • Frank Gore • SF

CHI @ SF • 2nd • 00:37

Rush: 8 for 39 yds, 29 TD (14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,14,1

4,14,14)

Rec: 2 for 18 yds

176

Awesome, Gore scores 29 TDs each one from 14 yards out and hits for 176 points in our scoring system...

We had that problem too. A simple relaunch of live scoring fixed it.

Rts was offering a free switch over offer earlier in the year. They were also assisting entering rosters. I don't know if they would import old stats. They seem to be helpful. I would try emailing them.

Its funny.. I click on this thread, read the last few responses and thought, "We haven't had any problems with Fanball this year.. Then I tried to go to our homepage..

This is my first year on Fanball ... I will never use it again. For those people who haven't tried it, believe me when you read this to stay far far away. Just think of Fanball like a girl with an STD, you don't want any part of that right?
