What websites do you guys use for your fantasy baseball draft prep and in season management activity? I have used baseballhq for a couple years now. For anybody who dosen't know..they are REALLY into numbers to say the least.

I haven't had much sucess recently in fantasy baseball...so i'm looking for another approach. Any suggestions?

I had been using mastersball.com, now fantasybaseball.com

I'm sure I'll go back, but things just haven't been the same since the takeover.

An active forum is also a must........I will say, HQ definetly has that.
Yeah, thats the thingMasterball had a great forum, then they merged/bought out by fantasybaseball.com...........now the forum is all but dead. They have a great staff, and really know their stuff. But without a solid forum, I'm sorry to say, I may look to spend my $$$ elsewhere.

Have you tried HQ? I think FFG is by far the best online forum anywhere....but HQ is also very deep.

I used HQ for a couple of years and frankly, my teams always sucked. I bagged spending all of that money and went over to Rotoworld. They have a forum as well. I have never looked back and have gotten fantastic results. The draft guide they publish for like $ 20 is money well spent IMHO

In that order.

FantasyBaseball.com

We have merged in Big Dawg Baseball (so the projections are all from Chris)

EVERYTHING you need to dominate your league(s) and do well in the NFBC/NBC competitions or learn a new form of the game (best articles on auction drafting on the web...if I do so say myself....but I don't have to because others like Wrigley will add their opinions).

So, here is a special offer for all the FBG here and in these threads (which by the way are at least as active at this time of year as any other) - IF you purchase the 2009 Platinum Package ($29.95) which included Everything (Draft Guide is available for just $14.95) including LIVE ADVICE (one on one help from a qualified staff member throughout the season), I will personally guarantee it.

Anyone who is interested, send me a PM and I will give you a code and the details.

If you have additional questions, you can post them here or there.........we already have new things up you can see......the message boards are quiet now (but that is always the case in the off season) but will get busy as people get back to baseball.

I can attest to that. $100 to cover you for a year is rediculous.

....just something i have observed about HQ the past couple years.

. Their projections and player rankings are usually pretty spot on, but they don't offer much about actual strategy. They pretty much assume you will do your own thing. Sometimes i appreciate that, sometimes i don't.

Todd departed from Fantasybaseball.com and Mastersball is back. Check out the blog at www.mastersball.com when you get a chance. Here's to hoping it gets back to where it used to be.

And there's a Bodhizefa sighting already!

Here is what I visit daily. Most are not strictly fantasy related, but all hold value for fantasy in my opinion:

BaseballHQ

Baseball Prospectus

Baseball America

minorleagueball

Hardball Times

Fangraphs

Roto Authority

I went with HQ for a couple of years, and it was okay. But 100 bucks is a bit steep.

I have enjoyed fantistics the last couple of years. 50 bucks isn't cheap but they offer quite a bit.

If you play in an ESPN fantasy league, their site is not groundbreaking with stats or opinion, but they are decent with regards to news & notes type stuff.

Yea. I remember reading their update that Longoria had been called up in May last year... I later found out that i beat about 5 of my leaguemates to the wire for him.

..........and my offer above still holds

Shouts out to rotohuff, Wrigley and all the other former mastersballers...................and of course Todd and I both hope to serve your baseball needs :wall:

He posts at Rotojunkie's Bullpen, too. He didn't do his pitching breakdown last year because of time constraints in his personal life, but he says he's going to do it this year.

Fantistics is a site that I've used for projections based on some odd scoring leagues I am in and it seems to be a pretty good.

It doesn't have forums but it has alot of statistical data to backup their rankings, articles and what not. Plus it has player news.

It's a little pricey for the full year ($60) but you get alot of tools.

Wow, looks good, thanks for the link.

This might be a real dumb question but which if any of these sites are good for an auction based, keeper league? I am not real experienced in fantasy baseball but will be playing in what seems to be a real involved league with salary caps and contracts. It seems like the key is going to be finding good players that you can win at an auction for low prices and have them on your team for a few years at bargain prices against your cap leaving you more room for getting the high priced guys. Also seems like finding even minor league players or foreign and maybe even high school players could be important as you also have a minor league roster.

Sorry if this is dumb and this is basically how it all works. I guess I need more then just projections, I need estimates on what I should pay for a player and sort of like a value barometer. I thought maybe most leagues were more basic but I think I am going to be at a huge disadvantage if I don't find a site that works towards this type of league.

Thanks for any help.

I am in the same type of league and from the sound of it...about the same experience level...What is your salary cap? Mine is 260 for the auction...I think that is pretty standard. If yours is similar, feel free to follow my draft to get an idea of what people are going for. I will start a new thread when it starts on Monday and keep everyone posted and hope to get some advice and feedback. It is a slow auction obviously, so there should be plenty of time for me to come in and keep everyone posted. We also have a minor league squad, so that may help you as well.

Cool, Yeah my cap is $260 too. Look forward to reading your future post.

At the risk of immodesty I will again recommend www.fantasybaseball.com where in addition to all the projections, cheatsheets and price guides, the Live Advice feature included in the Platinum Package (see special FBG money back guarantee above) gives you one on one time with people who have been dealing with those types of leagues for years.PVH

I used these guys last year and mostly liked the results. Their draft tool has a "VDB" like feature that sold me on them last year. They are pretty pricey and that is making me to investigate other options, but overall I was pleased with the results.

His pitching tiers are up, and they are tasty...Tiers of Starting Pitching -- 2009 Version
Wow. Best 2009 fantasy info I've read so far. Insightful and straight forward. A link if/when hitters tiers are released would be much, much appreciated.
