Fantasy Football is all about luck (1 Viewer)

But how much luck is involved? There has to be a skill edge to be had, for all the research and preparation that serious FF players do? Otherwise sites like this probably woudlnt exist. There are no websites and forums dedicated to the best way to beat blackjack. The best you can do in blackjack is about 50/50- so its mostly luck. There is a basic strategy, and past that no further discussion is needed.

There's quite a lot of discussion among us "football guys."

There is a lot of luck involved.

That said, why do the same guys in educated league make the playoffs year after year?

This comes up this time of year almost like the weather.

The facts: yes, luck is an element. But you don't consistently make the playoffs by luck. It's all about getting to the playoffs and then yes hopefully you have some luck. In a good league, most of the teams that make the playoffs are capable of winning. Over time, the better teams consistently make the playoffs and the better owners win their share.

If the game itself starts with luck (coin toss) and each play has some variety of luck, how can a game derived from a game of luck, not have luck involved?

Luck=chance and the result's interpretation

Luck = the variance of outcomes between two articles that dissipates over a long enough time line, as the properties inherent in the entities manifest, resulting in one entity being superior to the other.

is this a seashawks reference?

FF seems to nail it on the head as far as mimicking the nfl in this case

Winning it all takes a good amount of luck.

However getting into the playoffs year after year after year is where the men are separated from the boy's.

You got it. There were so many posters who complained about luck in FF, and that the best teams didn't make the playoffs, yadda yadda yadda.Welcome to real life.

Its' called gambling. There's always luck in gambling.

You cannot predict the future outcome of sporting events. Otherwise if you could, you'd be a billionare.

How many people in the US would have predicted Seattel would score 41 pts and get rid of the defending champs yesterday?

Like 0.0000000000001% of the population?

Yes there's a lot of luck, but if you continue to make smart decsions, you can eventually overcome it most of the time
