Fantasy Football season is over (1 Viewer)

Go skiing (hopefully if there's snow), play with the kids, etc. I love FF but it's kind of like a burden is lifted in a way.

I was all set for Yao Ming to carry me through the sports winter, but now he's hurt. Thankfully, Daytona is just around the corner...

just means we've got four more months to study up for the NFL DRAFT...

see you freaks in NYC on the last weekend of April.

Now through SuperBowl - relax, get back into shape.

February/March - college hoops and fantasy baseball prep.

April - initial fantasy football analysis and NFL draft discussion

1) NFL Playoff FF

2) Arena FF

3) NASCAR Fantasy

4) Spend time in the Shark Pool involving the best discussion now that the part time in-season riff-raff have gone.

5) Most importantly, focus on 2007 FF and use this time wisely

6) Finally, bask in my championship victories for the next six months

Other than that, relax and drink beer.

Study the NFL draft. right now I have decent takes on about 50 or so guys, by the time late April rolls around I will have an opinion on 200-250 most likely to get drafted.

Dyansty leagues; I will spend some specific time to planning out each league. Also, between a couple of FA slow online auctions and drafts normally I really don't have a huge amount of downtime.

Reading through mostly useless off-season fluff trying to find one or two tidbits to give me a little edge has especially in the leagues that go dormat.

Particpating the strategy and philosphy type threads that are greater in number during the off-season.

Tea? :bye: You must not have read further down in the post:
H.K. Today, 04:09 PM Post #16 Other than that, relax and drink beer.
Well, did you have your pinky properly extended while you were holding your can/bottle/glass of beer then? If you're going to get all snooty and high society on us riff raff, at least do it properly. :P

1. Keep hanging in the shark pool. This is when it starts to get good. :lmao:

2. Join fantasy bowling :bag:

3. Convince one league to switch to auction

4. Enjoy some time with the family. I think I have two kids around here somewhere :D

5. As for the NFL draft, I admit that I would rather hear from individuals who actually watch college ball than try to learn all the players at this point. :banned:

6. Look forward to SSLI

I have a whole box of 30 minute camcorder tapes that I promised a couple of years ago I would copy over to DVDs. This winter I am going to produce at least four DVDs and cut that box down by half. Really.

I am also going to begin another diet effort. I will lose 30 pounds. I was successful in this effort last year, but started gaining about when preseason football started up. This will actually be easier this year as I have gained about ten in the last two weeks. I will also exercise at least thirty minutes a day four days a week.

Cut down shark pool visits to twice a week maximum, but also spend a little time prepping for the off season message board survivor drafts.

Cut out Sportscenter entirely as I detest NBA and also to eliminate hearing about Terrell Owens.

But until then my league has Winter Meetings for Rules ChangesthenRFA which takes a whileI've got plenty to do after the NFL playoffs!!!!!I can't wait till the NFL draft though.Thank GOD for the NFL NETWORK!!!!!

For many of us, fantasy football season is now over. What will you do on your Sundays beside watch NFL playoffs?
My local league has a NFL playoff fantasy draft after week 17. It pretty much saves me since I find myself having a hard time watching football without fantasy players to root for. :hot:

I'm Australian - our local football starts in March, so I will have fantasy teams for Aussie Rules, and Rugby League :hot:

This is the shame... the ABSOLUTE shame of NOVICE fantasy footballers.

You base your league championship on a random week ... 16. The actual players aren't playing like it's most important... why in the world is your league doing same.????????????

Year after year, you see teams with the clearer better teams.... yet they sit at 9-7 because of happenstance. The same ppl who scoff at 8 teams leagues, then in the same breath complain about being upset in week 15 and call that the breaks.

My season is 2/3 complete in my two expert leagues. We auction.... we blind-bid through the regular season with cap.... we play through the Super Bowl.

Sorry, but I think anyone who finishes their season in week 16 isn't a serious enough a fantasy fan. If you want to debate, I will take on comer in this thread, or PM or wherever. If you are serious about this hobby... then get real... you won't regret. Baby steps.. it can happen.

Playoff league.

Then back to baseball March Madness. It's all good.
:kicksrock: With my Sundays, skiing comes back into play, my dog will get much longer walks, phone calls to the family will be more focused - I'll probably lose 20 pounds. :)

I'm with you on playing week 17 games. There are a lot of great ideas for using week 17 if you don't want your Super Bowl relying on just that week - two week Super Bowls and league-wide play for the #1 draft pick the next year are just two ideas. In dynasty leagues, I don't get any of the reasons used for avoiding week 17. I kind of understand it in redraft leagues, but don't agree that the risks outweigh the benefits of using that week. That said, I don't think there is anything "novice" about avoiding week 17. And the point of the thread is what to do once the FF season is over - I do playoff leagues. When the NFL stops playing, see above.

I enjoy the offseason of dynasty leagues a lot. I like the talk around here of strategy and I like the offseason to plan and to try to further shape my teams. Add an initial dynasty draft, or two, and I am all set.
