Fantasy Football seedings, rankings and tie breakers (1 Viewer)

In my league we have 2 divisions with the top 3 teams in each div going to the playoffs , div winners get a first round bye, just curious how other leagues determine seedings and rankings. below is how we do it.

overall record

head to head

divisional winning percentage

strength of schedule

points

I think total pts shouldnt be a huge factor, esp. in a head to head league. It'll play a factor later on, with net pts (differential between PA-PF) coming next

Head to head should always come before divisional record.
I am starting to think total points should matter more than division record. That is if the goal is to have the best teams make the playoffs.
I agree - Overall record, head to head and then total points.
Total points should only beat divisional record if you don't play more games against teams in your own division and even then it is questionable

last year, our CBS league switched to using the CBS "Breakdown" results as our first tiebreaker. MFL calls it "All Play Record". It's a fictional W/L record as if you had played every team h2h each week. Really removes the luck factor inherent in scheduling.

Here's a very unqiue system my league uses to spice up the standard 6-team playoffs setup.

Playoffs start a week earlier than most leagues, Week 13. All ties go to the higher seed.

Week 13

#1 and #2 seeds play in what we call The Bye Bowl. Way more interesting than just sitting out the first week of the playoffs like standard leagues. The #1 seed is spotted a 6 pt. lead in bonus over the #2. The winner gets to skip to Wk. 15. loser must play Wk. 14.

Meanwhile, seeds #3 thru #6 play in a 4-way wildcard game, top 2 scores advance. Again, more interesting than the standard #3 vs. #6, #4 vs. #5. In this 4-way game, #3 is given 18 bonus pts., #4 12, #5 6 & #6 zero.

Week 14

A very unique Final Four.

The Bye Bowl Winner gets the week off.

The Bye Bowl loser plays the 2 Wildcard winners in a 3-way game. Top 2 scores advance. No bonus pts.

Week 15

The Bye Bowl Winner gets the two Week 14 winners in another three-way game. No bonus pts. Top 2 scores advance to Super Bowl.

Week 16

Super Bowl
