A buddy of mine who is a "team following guy" brought this to my attention and I was pondering this concept. Creating a fantasy league where league owners draft NFL teams ONLY and not individual players per say. You would acquire points by what those players did each week for their NFL teams while still maintaining the a desire on seeing that particular NFL team win as well. Basically you have your teams you follow with a fantasy twist. I'm just starting to noodle this idea around and it has me intrigued but haven't worked out the spec's thus far. Has anyone tried this format if so does it work?
I was thinking having 8 owners each draft 4 NFL teams (32 total NFL squads). 2 Divisions of 4 teams, Maybe an auction format for the draft not quite sure yet.
You receive X number points for wins, minus for losses.
Points awarded for defenses.
Points awarded for scoring for the usual positions QB,RB,WR,TE,PK,Special Teams.
Your weekly lineup will be 3QB's,3 RB's,6 WR's,3 TE's,3 PK's,3 Defenses.
You will start just 3 of your teams per week for 16 week season. (you must bench one of your 4 teams per week).
This works out that every one of your teams must be benched 4 times throughout the duration of the season. I.E. your Saints team members must take 4 weeks off a season ,you just figure out where that will be.
Fantasy Playoffs begin week 15 with 2 Division winners and 2 wild cards, week 16 your Superbowl.
I think this could be very interesting since I have not strayed from the orthodox individual player style for the last 20 years. Maybe it's time to shake things up and give me reason to follow some players on my beloved BROWN'S team for a change.
