Fantasy Playoff Format (1 Viewer)

we have a 10 team 2 division league

4 teams make the playoffs (week 15 and 16)

2 division winners and 2 wildcards (so it can be 3-1,2-2,or 1-3 from the divisions)

We calculate division winners tiebreakers like this

1. Best Overall Record (obvious)

2. Division Record

3. Best Head to Head (btwn the teams in competition)

4 Most Points Scored

For the wildcard we go

1. Best Overall Record

2. Most Pts scored

Does anyone use anything different?

12-team league, we do it like the old NFL Conferences with 3 divisions...

3 divisions of 4, 3 wild cards

Week 14

#1 & #2 get bye

weakest division winner vs worst wild card (#3 vs #6) division winner gets #3 seed even with worse record

#4 vs #5 (both wild cards)

Week 15

#1 gets lower seed in semifinals, #2 gets higher seed

Week 16 Championship and 3rd place game

10 Teams - 1 Division - Head2Head - Best Records - Scoring Is Tiebreaker

Top 4 Teams Make Playoffs

Semi Finals Are Weeks 13 & 14. #1 vs #4 AND #2 vs #3 ...combined score for those two weeks determines winner.

Finals Are Weeks 15 & 16. The 2 Winners face off these two weeks to determine the champion.

We do 2 weeks for each round now, so that it feels more like a battle and that you have to really earn that playoff victory, instead of hoping to have 1 good week. You gotta show up both weeks to advance.

The only downfall is that it cuts out a game or two of the regular season. ..but it's worth it in our eyes.

12 teams no divisions

Everyone plays each other once. "Big Dance" style tournament starts next week. Top 4 get first round bye and reg season payout.

Every game in tourney is worth at least a little bit of money.

You should swap tiebreakers 2 and 3. H2H should carry more weight than Division record when it comes to breaking a tie between teams. Just one man's opinion.

12 teams, 2 divisions of 6

2 division winners get in and get $$

3 wildcards with next best overall records get in with less $

final playoff spot goes to last remaining team with highest total points to try to compensate for "bad luck"

Here is where i run the league different than most. Since nobody really likes bye weeks i take all 6 playoff teams and they all submit lineups. Again to try and eliminate bad luck and avoid the 1st round loss of the best teams, the top 4 scores will advance to the semifinals. In theory the top teams should have a good enough week to advance.

From there, week 15 and 16 go back to the standard head to head matchups with highes seed playing the lowest seed.

$$$ are awarded each time you advance with the biggest payout obviosly being for the championship.

Agreed, and if available why not use h2h as the second tiebreaker for the wildcard as well?

We have the same league size as you do.

10 teams. 2 divisions. only thing is we do the playoffs a little different.

6 teams make the playoffs. Weeks 14-16.

the 2 division winners get a bye on Week 14. The best remaining wildcard gets to pick their opponent out of the remaining three wildcards.

Week 15, the best division winner gets his pick of the two wildcards. Week 16 is the championship.

BTW: My team is 10-1, I have my division wrapped up, but the other division winner is only a game behind.

The callout factor in our league is great and VERY important come playoff time. Last year I won the championship, and the first two rounds of the playoffs I called out the only team that I ouscored!

3 divisions of 4 teams. division winners and 1 wildcard make the playoffs.

division tiebreakers:

1) head-to-head (play each other twice, so if one team is 2-0 they deserve to win)

2) division record

3) head-to-head breakdown record

4) total points

wildcard tiebreakers:

1) head-to-head breakdown record

2) total points

I feel the head-to-head breakdown record (the record of the tied teams if they played each other every week) is the best tiebreaker in a wildcard situation. The random scores of the 1 week these teams may have played each other doesn't tell you who the better team has been. By looking at their records if they played each other every week, you get a true look at who has been the better team all year. It totally removes any luck factor.

We don't use it first for divsion tiebreakers beacuase we have decided to place more importance on our divisional games each year (they are 6 of our 14 regular season games).

We have a separate playoff rung for all of the teams that don't make the playoffs - the winner of the "B Playoffs" gets the #1 draft pick the following year. This gives an incentive to owners to keep their team intact even if they are eliminated and prevents teams from tanking on purpose.

I am in a 12-team league (no divisions) that takes the 4 teams with the best records to make the playoffs. All 4 teams play all weeks in the playoffs, and the champion will be crowned from the highest scoring team totaling:

Your regular season scoring average

Playoff Week 1

Playoff Week 2

Playoff Week 3

Very odd system to determine the winner.
