According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the Dolphins have emerged as the favorites to land free agent Ahmad Bradshaw.

"I've been hearing a lot of momentum about Bradshaw to Miami," reported La Canfora Wednesday afternoon. DeAngelo Williams just knocked it out of the park with a ridiculous contract from the Panthers, and Bradshaw should be able to come pretty close. The Fins are being highly aggressive today, targeting their new feature back and new starting quarterback (likely Kyle Orton).
Bradshaw is a top 10 back on pretty much every team in the NFL, does moving to Miami help or hurt his numbers at all? Do you think his time share will be comparable to when he was in NYG?

I'd guess he'd see the same number of touches im Miami as he would in NY.

Are we assuming the QB is Henne, Orton, Vince Young, or Dan Marino?
Orton, I was under the impression the deal with Denver was all but done.Btw, Bump brandon marshall
I am not sure if this is good or bad tbh. If Orton is there, then I think the Miami offense will be a lot better than last year. However, the Giants OL seems to be a really strong run block line compared to MIA--that's my impression anyway. Touches? Thomas and Jacobs seem like a wash as far as challenging for touches. Will Miami throw the ball to Bradshaw more? He is really deadly catching the ball out of the backfield by the Giants don't do that much. The only way I could see this being better than NY is if Miami would pass to him more.

If I were an owner, I'd rather see him in NY. He likely won't match last year's numbers in Miami and they could view him as the lesser (or equal) part of a timeshare. At least in NY, you know where he stands.

That's a pretty bold statement right there. I'd argue he isn't a top-10 back on any team, but he is probably better than anything else Miami has at the moment. I do think Thomas would be a greater threat to Bradshaw than Jacobs is, and NY has a better offense than Miami whther its Henne or Orton behind center. I think the best thing for Bradshaw's fantasy value, among the teams who have been mentioned as suitors, is to stay in NY.

Touches? Thomas and Jacobs seem like a wash as far as challenging for touches.
Not to me. Jacobs was a completely different kind of player, a nice compliment to Bradshaw, and a proven vet. Thomas, so far, is a guy the Dolphins drafted.
Thomas is a rookie who hasn't had the benefit of any OTAs. Blocking alone will likely keep him on the sidelines in 2011 if the team has a strong veteran.

I agree. That's why I think he gets a bigger slice of the pie in MIA. Question is, is it a bigger slice of a smaller pie?

And it will depend on what kind of deal Bradshaw gets....IF it is D-Will money he'll be the man there no matter what.

I don't know the answer to the size of the pie, but my gut feeling would be bigger slice of a smaller pie. Long term I like NY better too because while I don't think Thomas will challenge for too many carries vs a good vet this season, long term, he has much more upside than anyone else in NY.

If Miami is pushing for him that hard they don't view Bradshaw as the lesser part of a timeshare.

Was referring to fantasy if it matters.I dont own him in any leagues, but im hard pressed to name 10 better backs in ppr. 1235 yds 8 TDs 47 receptions in 2010.

No particular order:

Peterson

CJ2k

Foster

Rice

MJD

Charles

Mccoy (barely)

Mcfadden (barely)

Thats 8 stretching for it. You could fill it in with Gore and Steven Jackson who are more talented or were more talented, but I think they both will have inferior seasons this year.

The offensive lines graded out equal last season in runblocking. The giants were offensive line was ranked 17th, and the Dolphins offensive line was ranked 16th.http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/07/13/2010-offensive-line-rankings-%E2%80%93-part-2/

I owned Brown and Bradshaw last year. I love ProFootballFocus, but I find it hard to believe those two offensive lines blocked equally as well.

My first impulse is to agree with you, but I don't know. I heard a stat from FO on the radio last night that said Ronnie Brown was one of the worst rb's in the league wrt plays where the oline blocked well and created a running lane. (I forget what the exact metric was called.)

I'm being told Ahmad Bradshaw has exited the Dolphins' price range. Look for him to return to the Giants unless terms change on his requests

I don't see it that way. I think Jacobs is/was on the decline and Bradshaw was becoming the clear #1. Thomas, although a big back as well, still has fresh legs. I wouldn't put it past Miami to split things pretty evenly. If they're still looking to run the wildcat, I don't think you can assume they make Bradshaw the bellcow. I still see it as a 1a/1b scenario.

Well all of my interest went out the window, of RB/WR combos out there Nicks Bradshaw isnt the worst, I just dont wanna own both of them on the same team.

Is Omar Kelly a MIA insider or beat reporter? How does he know? Thanks for the infor Mass raider.

I think the Thomas hype was based more on situation than talent. Miami did draft Thomas in the 2nd so I guess that says something but he is slow (4.6 40) & ball security is a significant concern. His 1.84-percent fumble-per-touch ratio (11 fumbles on 597 career touches) is one of the worst of the drafted RBs in the 2011 class. I do realize Bradshaw fumbles a lot too, just saying that's not a reason for Thomas to steal carries from him. I would like Bradshaw at least as much in Miami.

I'm more interested in what would happen in New York. Would they really roll with Jacobs and Ware, or would they be going after a guy like McGahee or Ronnie Brown?

So this whole thread was about something that might not happen? lol
Is speculation no longer allowed?Jason La Canfora's wording in his blurb was pretty convincing I believe yesterday the Giants said they didnt wanna pay Bradshaw what he wanted, so I assumed the first team to go after him hard would get him.

There are a lot of threads about speculation. lolIf you don't like these threads cluttering the board, don't bump them. lolThis forum is about fantasy football and general NFL talk. This thread qualifies on both counts. lol

I don't see a problem with owning both Bradshaw and Nicks, on the same team or not.

The title of the thread, however, should be much clearer. Title makes it sound like he already signed.

I owned Bradshaw and Nicks in one of my leagues and I got hosed in the playoffs, Nicks got injured and Bradshaw suffered Tom Coughlins wrath for fumbling the ball...
Bradshaw ended the 2010 season with seven fumbles. The only player with more was Peyton Hillis who had eight.
... a lot

Tough luck for sure, but them being on the same team had nothing to do with what happened.

As a Dolphins fan I'd love to have Bradshaw on board because I think he is *the* single most underrated running back in the league. As a feature back in a decent situation (like NYG) I think he could be a consistent top 3 FF running back.

That said, from a fantasy standpoint, I think he's better off on NYG than Miami. The Giant's O-line is very good at run blocking and they certainly have a lot more scoring opportunities than Miami.

How many O-Line starters are going to be back? I think I remember seeing multiple NYG Lineman cut already.

Nah, speculation is fine...but do you not see anything odd about talking about "what ifs", with a lot of "for sures" being done. Can I start a thread about the Repercussions of the Lions getting Nnamdi? lol

My point is on a day with a ton of news and FA moves, "what ifs" and rumors have their own threads, these just seem to bog down the SP, thats my opinion.
