My current league has a very simple scoring system. 15 yds passing / rushing / receiving = 1 point, 1 rushing / passing / receiving TD = 6 points. That's it. As a result, our league routinely has weeks where one team's quarterback will easily outscore the rest of the team combined and the top 20 scorers are all quarterbacks (excepting LT). After participating in the league for several years now, it seems like this scoring system places far too much emphasis on quarterback play. Basically, you can have one good quarterback and a bunch of scrubs at every other position and dominate. For example, the guy in my league who has McNabb was dominating up until, surprisingly, McNabb went down, at which point his team has completely tanked.
I guess my questions are these: do most leagues have different yardage scoring systems for passing yards? Is the league with different yardage scoring systems place emphasis more on complete teams rather than teams with one super QB and a bunch of losers? Have you participated in both types of leagues? Which system do you prefer?
TIA, GBs.
