Not sure if this has been discussed before. Lets say you are in a league (any sport) and you have a draft coming up but for some reason you cant make it, you don't like drafting but like to play, you suck at drafting, Etc.... Would you be upset if someone drafts for someone in you league? Is there ethics in drafting? For me half the fun is the draft but I wouldnt really care.

I have this idea running in my head and wanted to see what the consensus is here?

Would anyone pay someone to draft for you?

I don't think there is any ethical issue here. I've played in a number of leagues where a friend of mine paid for the league, he let me draft and run the team throughout the season and we split the prize money 50/50. He isn't really into FF anymore but he was able to stay involved in this league thru myself......and i get to play in a money league for free....it's win win.

This isn't the best population of folks to ask the second question too... if you hang out in the Shark Pool, it's unlikely you're the kind of FFL'er who is going to pay someone to do the draft for you.

We had a draft day cancellation in my work league, and instead of playing with 11, I drafted for the guy while also drafting my own team - this happens in that particular league every year it seems... it's a friendly/networking league, so not as big a deal as if it happened in my big $ league. Would have no problem if someone sent a proxy to do it for them.

Pay your entry fee and I could care less who drafts for ya.
Exactly. Unless you're in a "beginner" league or some other designation, who drafts for a team shouldn't matter.Regarding my own team, I (like almost everyone in The Shark Pool) feel I can do better than any "ringer" I could get. Only if I could not attend, phone in, draft online, etc. would I resort to having someone draft for me. And even then I would probably construct a draft list, with deviation allowed only if I really trusted that person's skill at a level near my own.

Clarify the pronoun use for me, please. Is that someone another owner in the league or a non-affiliated person? I wouldn't be too happy with the former, but could care less about the latter.

If that happened in one of my leagues, we would use a canned draft list for that person. I try to always print out a list from a legit web site that I hold in somewhat low regard so that an honest if not outstanding source is used. Of course, people can always send in their own customized list or a specific printout.
