Fantasy superstitions - Having no players for the late games (1 Viewer)

I'm usually the first to rip on superstitions or theories like cancelling out other players' points or having a player going on Monday night because it gives you "last licks."

But for the first time in as long as I can remember, my entire Super Bowl lineup tomorrow goes at 1 p.m. (already got my garbage 6 points from Kaeding last night). That means when the 4:15's kick off, I'll be done for the season while my opponent has 3 going at that time and finishes the matchup with Adrian Peterson on Monday night.

Now I find myself not only being disgusted that I'll have to cling to a lead (if I even have one) in the late games without having anybody to look forward to playing, but also scrambling to see if there's anybody I can swap in at 4 p.m. just so I have something to root for late in the day. Waiver's closed and I don't have a lot of late options (just Braylon Edwards vs. Indy and Denver D vs. Philly) so I'll have to hope for big scores in the early games that will hold off my opponent's "spread out assault."

Anybody else get anxious when your opponent has a bunch of outs while you can do nothing but sit on the sidelines and pray that your opponent's guys put up stinker after stinker?

I don't really buy into the hype of having players late in the game. But it does make football more entertaining when you have something to root for in the late games. And having one on Monday Night I like to have because it gives you one last glimmer of hope if you are losing. And I love this week because I have Peterson for Monday.

i find that 4:15 games are higher scoring. idk. i just prefer to have my guys play late.

i haven't had many MNF players lately other than boldin and smith a few weeks back. and no SNF either.

Dumb reason to make a switch. Only advantage you have is if the other guy is done early and you can seal a lead by benching someone to prevent negative points. But the odds of that happening are so slim as to negate any strategic value.

100% correct. I do the exact same thing. I'm talking about letting the psychological aspects of fantasy football (lame as that sounds) impacting how you feel about upcoming matchups.

Never said I would make the switch. But I do admit, when I saw my starting lineup all had 1 p.m. start times, I did look at what my late game options were to see if it made to sense to put in a lineup change. Whether you score 140 after 1 p.m. or 70 the entire football weekend, the times of games don't matter. It just completely sucks that when 4:15 p.m. kicks off, the points I have are all I'll have for the weekend and I'll likely be watching the plays in other games that give my opponent the title.

I like having guys going late. Makes no sense, I know. It just feels better.

I absolutely love some prime time games. In a close call, I'll pick the one in the prime time game for a variety of reasons.
