FantasyAuctioneer.com and other Live Auction Services (1 Viewer)

ESPN has a good live auction feature.. Won't be available to late June early July (what they told me when I asked)...

Really sucks as there needs to be a service out there that supports a live auction.. Any web programmers out there......? Hell of a business opportunity...

last time i went to their site, it said that they were not part of some other site. hate to see george go out of biz. its was a great site except for the week b4 the reg season started when everyone tried to do their last second drafts

I've thought about the same thing, but it just seems like you don't stand a chance of competing against the big boys, especially ESPN whose league service (including the auction functionality) is free. It's my understanding that that's why FA went under:Even if it's good, you won't be able to charge for it because there's a bigger name out there offering it for free.

Even if it's good, and you make it free, ad revenue/sponsorships won't be able to cover the cost of operating a heavily-trafficked site.

And finally, if your niche is "we have a live auction functionality", your business year consists of 2 months every year, and then flat lines from September-June :goodposting:

You might want to purchase your own auction equipment for your league. If you get in touch with roadkill1292 via PM, he can put you in touch with a company/website that produces and markets the equipment and software.

FantasyAuctioneer Going Out of Business

Hi everyone,

This is unfortunately the end of the road for FantasyAuctioneer. Thank you so much for being a part of our little footnote in Fantasy Sports History. Although we announced a partnership with RotoExperts last February, the deal has since fallen through. We both agreed that with ESPN and CBS Sports already in the online auction business, our window had already closed. We had a number of improvements planned, but realized that any successful innovation would likely be emulated soon after by much bigger pockets. RotoExperts Founder Ben Ice and I go a long way back, though, so who knows what we might be working on together in the future.

For now, allow me to introduce you to DraftyDynamix Founder Ted Kasten. He is offering FantasyAuctioneer fans $10 off their auction and draft analyzing software (Ultimate Player Rankings Package only, normally $44.95). Not only has it won numerous FSTA "Best Draft Tool" Industry Awards, but it is also the only draft tool integrated with CBS Sports, ESPN, and Fanball. (It also works great for off-line auctions and drafts.) He's confident enough in your repeat business that he is giving us 100% of the revenue you generate this season and next baseball season from all his products. We do still have bills to pay as we close shop, so we would appreciate your support! Please make sure you use the coupon code "FA09" to get your $10 discount and use the same email as this one when you sign up. Please head to www.DraftDynamix.com soon!

Finally, people have suggested over the years that we open up a "tip jar" and accept donations, something we've shied away from. If pride comes before the fall, it also leaves right after it; so we would very much appreicate any tips or donations sent via PayPal to georgedp@fantasyauctioneer.com. It would mean a lot.

Once again, thank you so much for your support over the years! We hope you agree that our contribution to fantasy sports (thanks to you) is significant enough to last far longer than our company. Good luck this season!

Sincerely,

George del Prado

Founder

p.s. We'll be sending out this same email in March as a reminder before baseball season; so please click "Leave mailing list" below if you'd rather not get it.
